We’re now moving into Day 35 of Movement Control Order (MCO). While it has been a challenging time with plenty of MCO violator crackdowns, it has proven necessary. Malaysia has just recorded the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since the start of MCO, with zero deaths for the first time ever on 20th April 2020.

This follows news of Malaysia amping up its COVID-19 screenings to 11,500 tests daily, and an addition of 5 labs for a total of 48 labs to help speed up COVID-19 diagnosis. The latest statistics give us something to keep hopeful about while we’re weathering Phase 3 of MCO that is set to end on 28th April.

Lowest number of COVID-19 cases recorded since MCO

Malaysia has been seeing many wins in the past week, with zero new cases recorded in several states and a 50% recovery rate. According to KKM, we’ve also topped the list of most cases recovered and discharged in Southeast Asia. With 5,425 cases in total, we’ve also dropped down to 4th in SEA with the most COVID-19 cases after being first on the list at the start of the MCO.

Now we have more things to stay positive about with the series of good news that was reported yesterday, 20th April. This includes the staggering low of 36 new confirmed cases, making it the 4th day in a row that Malaysia has recorded new cases that fall below the 100 mark.

With 98 recoveries recorded yesterday, it continues the 8-day streak of recoveries surpassing new cases, and puts the recovery at an impressive 60%. It’s also the first time that Malaysia has recorded zero deaths since 19th March 2020.

States with the most confirmed cases recorded, such as Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, also had good news with low increase in cases. Areas currently under Enhanced MCO, including Menara Plaza One and Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat, also saw zero new cases, as reported by KKM.

Positive signs in Malaysia with low COVID-19 cases & zero new deaths

It hasn’t been an easy time for Malaysia, but these lowering numbers that show signs of the COVID-19 curve flattening is something to keep positive about. It also means that adhering to MCO is more important than ever now to keep these numbers even lower.
