Bicycle Foodpanda Rider Offered Free Motorcycle From Shop Owner But Politely Rejects It

Kelantan Foodpanda rider rejects free motorbike offer

Helping the needy becomes much more important now that many Malaysians are struggling to make a living during the COVID-19 pandemic after repeated MCOs that took a toll on the livelihoods of people.

One such case took place in Kelantan last week involving a 19-year-old Foodpanda rider named Syamil Mansor who turned down a free bike offer from a motorcycle shop.

In the original post by Motor Lian Soon, the admin requested netizens to look for a Foodpanda rider on a bicycle who looked to be delivering food under the scorching sun. The admin wanted to offer him a motorcycle to reduce his travelling burden. The post from 4th June 2021 has since garnered over 12,000 likes and 51,000 shares.

Shortly after the post, Syamil went viral on social media with netizens feeling touched by the incident as they praised Motor Lian Soon for being so considerate to help the poor young man during this tough time.

However, a day after the initial post, Motor Lian Soon updated their Facebook page saying that they had successfully contacted Syamil and found that he already has a motorcycle. The admin of Motor Lian Soon also thanked netizens for liking and sharing their original post.

The shop owner also praised the young man’s honesty for telling them that he already owns a motorcycle and that he won’t be needing another one.

Determined to be a Foodpanda rider despite hurdles

This actually isn’t the first time Syamil has gone viral on social media. As reported by Free Malaysia Today on 2nd June 2021, the young man previously garnered a lot of attention for his willingness and determination to become a bicycle food delivery man to earn a living during the movement control order (MCO).

Syamil initially applied to deliver food using a motorcycle, but because the quota was full, he accepted the offer to become a food delivery man using a bicycle instead.

A little help goes a long way

It’s really heartwarming to see that despite racial and religious differences, Malaysians can always come together to help those who are in need.

In times like these, we should indeed be looking out for one another to ensure that we get through this pandemic together.
