1. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur


A lantern-filled centrepiece

Picture a sea of vibrantly-coloured lanterns floating overhead, like in that magical scene in Tangled. That’s what you’ll get to see at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Their Prosperity in Harmony installation for Chinese New Year 2025 boasts a massive centrepiece made up of dazzling red lanterns – it looks almost like an elaborate traditional Chinese headpiece.

Take your time to explore the surrounding decor in the mall’s Centre Court, where adorable statues of snakes and lion dance performers are flanked by ong red flowers and even more lanterns.

2. The Exchange TRX


An Imperial Garden with a digital koi pond


The Exchange TRX’s A Tale Of Spring installation for Chinese New Year will make you feel like you’re the main character in a Chinese period drama. Inspired by the Imperial Garden of China’s Forbidden City, the decor at the mall features blooming flowers, mechanical storks, and even a digital koi pond and gazebo – all the marks of a traditional Chinese garden.

Other photo spots for your bai nian outfits include a Blossom Tunnel, with pink flowers hanging overhead, and a Zodiac Journey Bridge with realistic “stone” Zodiac sculptures. Besides the stunning decor, a thrilling lion dance, fan dance, and traditional Chinese instrumental performance will entertain shoppers twice daily on the weekends.

3. Suria KLCC


All-red Chinese New Year decor

Suria KLCC certainly isn’t skimping on the ong this year, with its rich all-red decor for Chinese New Year. The mall recreates a serene Chinese garden with its Chinese Garden of Elegance, which features a red gazebo and towering gate decorated with illuminated lanterns in, you guessed it, vibrant red.

Foiling all of this brilliant red is a collection of stunning golden trees in full bloom around the mall’s Centre Court. There’s also a special Gold Blossoming Tree of Prosperity, where you can toss your wishes high up on and watch to see if it shows up on the digital koi pond here.

4. Fahrenheit88


Blown-up Lucky Cat centrepiece


If you’re knee-deep in the blind box craze, Fahrenheit88 has teamed up with Top Toy to bring a one-of-a-kind CNY decor to the collectible-obsessed this year. Called PowerFU Prosperity, the festive installation has a blown-up version of Top Toy’s Lucky Fortune Cat blind box figurine in gold and measuring 8ft tall, with its signature powerful right arm included to usher in the ong for shoppers this year.

For those seeking out picture-perfect moments, the mall’s Concourse is also decorated with charming cherry blossom trees that provide a lovely springtime-inspired backdrop for festive snaps this season.

5. The Gardens Mall

The Gardens Mall makes good use of the relatively cosy space it has for festive decorations. The KL mall brings to shoppers charming Chinese courtyards featuring several different corners for photos, including a Tang Dynasty-style sitting room and gazebo.

The structures are further elevated with a galore of blooming magnolias and cherry blossoms, and charming decor items such as Ming-style vases and delicate tea sets.

You won’t find the usual reds and golds that colour malls during Chinese New Year at Mid Valley Megamall. The huge mall in KL has a vibrant collection of hand-painted Chinese kites and delicate drapes that soar high above its Centre Court for its A Joyous Chinese New Year 2025.

Shoppers can also check out live performances and workshops, as well as a special Spring Calligraphy Station where you can write out a greeting for 2025 on and have it printed out.

7. Pavilion Damansara Heights


Cultural dioramas that capture the spirit of CNY

Pavilion Damansara Heights may be celebrating Chinese New Year with an installation themed Heights Of Happiness Chinese New Year, but something l-ong is dazzling shoppers instead. They have a diorama display spanning 93ft in length, which depicts four different aspects of Chinese culture during the festive celebrations in miniature form.

Spot adorable sculptures of pandas hiding amidst cherry blossom trees, as well as a red bear standing 14ft in height. Needless to say, come with a fully-charged phone to take advantage of all the festive displays here.

8. 1 Utama Shopping Centre


A realistic pond setup with “fishes”

1 Utama Shopping Centre impresses this year with its 3-tiered Chinese pavilion and realistic “pond” part of its Lunar Harmony installation. Feel like you’ve stepped into an actual garden, with floors of the mall’s ground floor Forecourt emulating the real thing thanks to the smattering of water lilies and koi fishes.

You might just feel tempted enough to play a game of The Floor is Lava, to avoid stepping on the fishes instead of lava.

It may be the Year of the Snake, but the timeless Mickey Mouse and his friends are taking over Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s Centre Court for Chinese New Year 2025. The beloved Disney character takes centre stage at the mall in statue form, while his just-as-loved pals such as Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Pluto can be discovered at different corners of the space.

Surrounding the grand centrepiece are details such as rocks and an array of blooms, that’ll help you fully immerse in the garden-inspired space.
