First drive thru FamilyMart in Klang, Selangor
FamilyMart has become a favourite food haunt of many for the array of food and snacks to be found at this convenience store from Japan. But while we can already score grab-and-go food – such as Oden bowls, Japanese bento, onigiri and more – at their conveniently located, 24-hour stores, they’ve now made ways to get their offerings easier for patrons with their first drive thru outlet at their standalone outlet at Berkeley Uptown in Klang, Selangor.
Quicker way to get Oden, Sofuto, Frappes and more
FamilyMart Malaysia took to their Facebook page to share the news on 31st March 2021. In it, they said that they’ve launched their first drive thru outlet in Klang, with patrons now able to order their well-known food offerings from the safety of their cars during the pandemic.

At the drive thru, you can get food their stores sell, such as their popular Tom Yum Snack Bowl (RM7.10), Curry Chicken Katsu Cheese Baked Rice (RM11.90) bento, Spicy Aglio Olio with Shrimp (RM10.90) pasta and Golden Salted Egg Chahan (RM5.90) fried rice.
If you often make a trip out to FamilyMart for their Sofuto (from RM3.90) and Frappe (from RM8.90), you be glad to know that you can also get these at the drive thru. Not left out are their coffee and iced beverages, as well as packet drinks such as Farm Fresh Milk (from RM2.50) and Binggrae Milk (RM5.40).

Food stocked in the refrigerator section of the stores, including their Onigiri (RM4.50/each) with fillings such as Grilled Salmon and Ebiko Mayo, and Sandwiches (from RM4.90), that make for filling meals – will also be up for grabs at this outlet and drive thru that opens till 11.30PM every day.

To celebrate their drive thru launch, FamilyMart Malaysia announced an opening promotion of buy-1-free-1 Sofuto cone or cup for customers opting to order from their drive thru counter at their Klang outlet. This promotion lasts until 18th April 2021, with the free sofuto applicable only to the lower-priced item.
Netizens want their own drive thru outlets
FamilyMart’s new drive thru concept had many Malaysians taking to their Facebook posts asking for a drive thru outlet in their own towns too. This included Facebook user Shamsiah Zakaria, who commented “Drive thru in KL too, please, please, please!” – to which FamilyMart Malaysia responded that “Hopefully in the future, we can!”

Many were also pointing out that this FamilyMart’s concept bears close resemblance to FamilyMart outlets in Japan – mainly because this store happens to be a standalone store with a parking space designated for its patrons.
