Farm Fresh at UPM in Selangor
Klang Valley has its share of parks where we can reacquaint our screen-worn eyes with some greens. Beyond a stroll and the playground, you’ll find rare pockets of greenery in the city that lets you spend time with animals and slurp ice cream to cool off. Enter Farm Fresh at UPM.Â
This sprawling dairy farm is tucked away in Serdang, about a 45-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur. There are entry fees to the farm, but cow barns, kid-friendly tractor rides, countryside photo spots, and an in-house cafe will be part of the worth-it experience at this farm in the city.

Located in Seri Kembangan, Farm Fresh at UPM is operated by the eponymous homegrown dairy brand. The family-friendly farm invites visitors to learn more about sustainable farming practices, such as dairy production and vegetable cultivation, through a collection of attractions and activities offered on the sprawling farm.
There are just over 10 attractions here, ranging from cow barns to plant nurseries. In case you’re wondering, the farm previously went by the name The Acre, but this now refers to the cafe that serves pasta and pizzas on the farm.

Your outdoorsy excursion will begin at an eye-catching red barn that serves as an entrance to the farm. Tickets can be purchased here, or online at Ticket2u.
Prices for Malaysians are RM15/adult (RM35/adult for standard) and RM10/pax (RM25/pax for standard) for children between 4 and 12 years old and senior citizens. Kids under 3 and persons with disabilities can enter the farm for free.

As you’ll be exploring the dairy farm mostly on foot and under the sun, come dressed in your comfiest walking shoes and wearing sunscreen – consider packing an umbrella to stay fully shielded from the sun’s rays too.

You can give your legs a break by hopping on a tractor ride, which takes you on a 30-minute tour of the expansive farm past its animal barns and vegetation on the back of a tractor. The vehicle also makes a stop at a sign of the farm that overlooks the surrounding area, for farm visitors to snap mandatory pictures at.

Meet the farm’s livestock

The farm’s main attraction is the pens holding its livestock animals. Adults and kids alike who spend most of their time in the city will have fun meeting its various inhabitants such as cows, chickens, and deer.

The female cows, or Ladies as the farm dubs them, are the stars of the dairy farm. They gather in a spacious Cow Barn chomping on feed, but if you’re lucky, you might just be able to catch them or their male cattle companions grazing on the open fields.

Other animals you can meet here include pigeons and magpies at the Aviary. Packs of feed can be bought at the entrance for a small fee, and fed to friendly goats at an open outdoor pen.

Once you’ve met all the animals, start exploring the farm to take in beautiful meadow scenes that’ll make you feel like you’ve ventured beyond Malaysia and into New Zealand.

The kiddos can hop on barrel rides that will take them around in a fun train with barrels for carriages.
Food options at Farm Fresh at UPM

When you start to feel peckish, there are several dining options on the farm. For snacks to cool off with, there’s Cream Hauz with fresh milk soft serve (RM3.50) and other ice cream flavours from Inside Scoop priced at RM9.30 per scoop.
Jom Cha also offers a variety of signature, yoghurt-based, and tea-infused drinks, crafted with Farm Fresh milk.

For a more hearty meal, The Acre is the farm’s restaurant with a menu of mainly pizzas and pasta such as Beef Pepperoni Pizza (RM43) and Chicken Pesto Pasta (RM30).

There’s also Fresh Pick selling fresh milk and produce like bananas and pumpkins, but these items tend to clear off the shelf quickly by patrons, so you might want to make visiting this shop a priority if these sound interesting to you.
