Goldsboro Books brings its collection to The Library by BookXcess
For most bookworms, collecting beautifully made books with jaw-dropping artwork covers and sprayed edges wrapped up in a hardbound back can sometimes be more appealing than reading the book itself.
If you fall into that category – or you’re just eager to check out new books – then you’ll want to know about the new The Goldsboro Room at The Library by BookXcess. The London-based specialist bookstore Goldsboro Books brings its collection of UK first editions, all of them signed, to the Petaling Jaya bookstore.
Here’s a first look at the space, which officially opens to the public on 27th August 2026.

For the uninitiated, Goldsboro Books was founded in 1999 by David Headley and Daniel Gedeon as an independent bookstore located in London’s Cecil Court, also popularly known as ‘Booksellers’ Row’ in London.
The specialist bookstore is known for carrying a wide collection of signed hardback first editions of well-known and rare titles. Currently, the bookstore carries over 25,000 hardback first edition books.
The bookstore quickly rose to popularity in 2013, as they were the only bookshop in the world to carry signed copies of The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith, the pen name for J.K Rowling before she revealed her true identity to the world.
What to expect at Goldsboro Room
Goldsboro Books is now part of The Library by BookXcess, tucked away inside Sunway Square Mall. The space, officially called The Goldsboro Room, mimics the look of its flagship store in London, with a cosy 140sqft space in the bookstore reserved for Goldsboro’s collection.
It’ll also be Goldsboro’s first outpost in Southeast Asia.
As The Goldsboro Room is located inside the 24-hour The Library, it will also operate round the clock, so you can feast your eyes on books in its collection early in the morning, or deep into the night.
Malaysian bookworms and collectors can browse eye-catching signed first editions, exclusive Goldsboro editions of selected titles with decorated page edges and stampings, and limited and collectable editions with numbered runs.
No book is wrapped here, so you are free to flip through them, admire their sprayed edges up close, and see their limited numbered print.
The average price for a book here is RM200, with the lowest tagged at RM160 and the highest at RM450.
As for genres, titles on the shelves span a variety of genres, including general fiction, translated titles, horror, fantasy, and non-fiction, with most written by up-and-coming authors.
The Goldsboro Room opens at The Library by BookXcess this August
A slice of London’s Booksellers’ Row has landed in Malaysia permanently, with the debut of The Goldsboro Room at The Library by BookXcess. Whether to browse or to buy, it’ll be a treat for bookworms, who can now enjoy the London bookstore’s collections right here in Malaysia.
