MCO announced for 6 districts in Selangor
After several days of speculation, it has just been confirmed that the Movement Control Order (MCO) is making a return to 6 districts in Selangor from 6th May to 17th May 2021. In a press conference today, 4th May, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that districts affected are Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang. Also announced are SOPs for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.
Selangor districts to undergo MCO 3.0 till 17th May
Malaysia recorded another 3,120 new COVID-19 cases today.
Of the total new cases, Selangor had the most cases with 675 new cases. Sarawak (620), KL (408), and Johor (336) also recorded new cases in the 3-digits.

With Selangor recording rising cases, 6 districts will undergo MCO 3.0 from 6th May to 17th May, for 2 weeks.
These districts are:
- Hulu Langat
- Petaling
- Gombak
- Klang
- Kuala Langat
- Sepang
Selangor is currently under Conditional MCO (CMCO), which was slated to end on 17th May.
Not affected by the recent announcement are the districts of Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor which will remain under the CMCO until 17th May.

Interstate travel is still not allowed, and interdistrict travel between areas under the MCO will not be allowed as well.
Nonetheless, Ramadan bazaars will be allowed to operate and closures will be up to the state government. Likewise, all businesses will only be allowed to operate from 6AM to 10PM once again.
SOPs for Hari Raya also announced
With Hari Raya around the corner, Ismail Sabri also announced several SOPs for the festivities this year.
Open houses are not allowed, but visitations will be permitted on the first day of Hari Raya in districts under the MCO, but with a capacity limit of 15 people. However, this is subject to the size of the house as physical distancing must be carried out.
Individuals are also advised to scan guests’ temperature and take down information for contact tracing.
Those in CMCO and RMCO states are allowed to welcome guests for the first 3 days of the festivities, with a 20 person limit on guests for those under CMCO, and 25 for RMCO states.
EMCO states are not allowed to have guests and will have to celebrate with members of the same household only.
Solat, or prayers, are also allowed in all areas except states and districts under the EMCO.

Malaysians in states recording high COVID-19 cases have been awaiting announcements for a possible return of the MCO in the past few days. Today’s announcement of the MCO 3.0 in Selangor is putting our worries to rest, but stands as a call for Malaysians to stick to SOPs at this time to help squash COVID-19 cases.
