8 Places In Klang Valley To Get A Variety Of Nyonya Kuih That’ll Satisfy Your Teatime Cravings

Nyonya kuih in Klang Valley

It’s a huge fascinating world when it comes to kuih, one that’s full of colours and flavours. The quintessentially Malaysian treats enliven a table and come in fun-sized forms – steamed cakes, sweet custards, glutinous lumps, cookies, and even savoury fritters.

But for many of us, they are more than just dainty, eye-pleasing teatime snacks.

Entrenched in religion and tinged with childhood nostalgia, a bite of fragrant starch reminds us of our family gathering together to munch on plates of ornate palm-sized kuih-muih after rituals or prayers. A mouthful of sticky pandan can even take us back to those after-school days – treats left on the dining table, that made our fingers and lips palm sugar-kissed.

When the cravings for some rainbowed blocks of kuih lapis or banana leaf-encased kuih koci strikes, these 8 places in Klang Valley that churn out traditional Nyonya kuih will ensure that you’ll be tucking into some real good technicolour desserts.
