Sakura Festival at LaLaport BBCC
We all know how beautiful the spring season in Japan can be, when the sakura trees are in full bloom. Our social media feeds are testament of this, with friends and fellow Instagram users on their springtime trips flaunting their pink-and-white cherry blossom-filled posts.
While not all of us Malaysians are lucky enough to be able to travel to witness the gorgeous blooms in person, we can experience a slice of the cherry blossom season in Malaysia itself.
From now till 19th May 2024, LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) is hosting its first-ever Sakura Festival using an innovative light projection mapping. Here’s what you can expect to see there.
Spectacular sakura projections & photo ops with glowing lanterns
Picture a luminescent garden in the spring with sakura trees peppering dusk with their blooms – that’s what you’ll find at LaLaport BBCC’s immersive display, Sakura Festival.
Located at the 4th floor of the Central Rooftop Garden, the display is truly a sight to behold, with an ethereal backdrop of cherry blossom projections that transform every surface of the garden into a mesmerising illusion of pink nature.
To trick your friends into thinking you’re in Japan, don a Kimono and pose for some IG-worthy pictures by the steps at the garden that are flecked with sakura projections.
The festival attractions don’t just end there – head to the ground floor of WoW Plaza where you can strike your best pose against a backdrop of delicate lanterns illuminating a soft pink glow.
Galore of Japanese-themed activities
Beyond just snapping photos for the ‘Gram, there are other activities that you can check out during your visit to the festival, including attending Japanese-themed workshops such as Mask Painting and Sakura Origami Art.
You can enjoy either one of these workshops when you spend RM100 and above in two combined same-day receipts at the mall.
Look forward to exploring the Sakura weekend bazaar too, where you can eat your way through a variety of delicious Japanese food.
There’ll be tons of exciting live performances to catch as well, with appearances from Japanese artists such as the popular idol girl group AKB48, as well as Sakura Odori Japanese Club and DJ Sprout.
