Places for good satay in KL

Some of the best foods in Malaysia don’t necessarily come out of restaurants with 4 walls. Pasar malams and lok-lok trucks prove that to be true, and so are satay spots in KL that often operate out of stalls on the side of a road and wet markets.

So if you’re a KL-ite, you don’t have to venture 30 minutes out of town to Kajang to get an equally good satay fix thanks to these satay joints:

1. Sate Atok – Kajang-style satay (RM0.80/stick)

@eatout.kualalumpur

This satay stall is a little-known gem loved by locals for their affordable sticks of chicken (RM0.80/stick) and beef (RM0.90/stick) satay that’s a steal for its price in the city. Located across KK Mart in Taman Segambut SPPK, it shares a space with other family-run businesses by the roadside, including Warung Kak Ton D’Condo and their affordable plates of ikan bakar

A lone man patiently cooks and fans the satays here, so you’ll be getting satays with crispy bits on the surface and not overburnt ones. And the stall’s fragrant and smooth kuah is made using  a family recipe straight from Kajang, so you know it’s legit.

Dining spots are limited here, so it’s best to bungkus these sticks to feast on them while keeping up with your fave TV show at home. You can also opt to get lamb satay (RM1.50/stick) and ketupat (RM1/pc) to soak up all that kuah.

Address: Jalan Dutamas Seroja, Taman Segambut SPPK, 52100 Segambut
