How to travel from KL to Sepang International Circuit
Located around 60km from Kuala Lumpur, Sepang International Circuit hosts some of Malaysia’s biggest motorsport events but getting there during a busy race weekend requires a little planning. Thankfully, there are several ways to travel from KL to the circuit, whether you prefer the flexibility of driving or want to rely on public transport.

By car

Driving is one of the most convenient ways to reach Sepang International Circuit, especially for groups who want more control over their journey. The circuit is located around 60km from KL, and is accessible via major highways such as the Maju Expressway (MEX) and North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE).
If you’re coming from KLIA, the circuit is approximately 14km away via Jalan Pekeliling. The toll-free journey takes around 15 minutes in normal traffic, making KLIA a practical starting point for international visitors staying near the airport.
Parking is typically available within the circuit grounds during major racing events. Vehicles could park at a rate of RM20 per entry on a first-come-first-served basis.
Alternatively, visitors can park at Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang, located approximately 7km or a 10-minute drive from the circuit in normal traffic. The outlet has spacious parking facilities at RM2 per hour, and visitors can complete the remaining journey by e-hailing.
By e-hailing

E-hailing services, such as Grab, AirAsia Ride, and Bolt offer a convenient door-to-door option for visitors who may not have their own vehicle.
Fares from central KL to Sepang International Circuit generally range from around RM80 to RM120 before tolls, while the shorter journey from KLIA costs approximately RM30 to RM50. However, passengers can expect prices to rise significantly during major race weekends.
To reduce the e-hailing fare, visitors travelling from KL can take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit to the airport before booking a ride to the circuit.

Grab has the widest driver availability but higher surge pricing, while AirAsia Ride and Bolt may offer cheaper fares with fewer available drivers.
Upon reaching Sepang International Circuit, e-hailing passengers may be directed to designated drop-off zones, which has typically been the arrangement during major events.
Getting to the circuit in the morning is generally easier than securing a ride after the race. To avoid the post-race bottleneck, consider travelling to KLIA by shuttle or e-hailing before taking the KLIA Ekspres back to KL Sentral.
By train
As Sepang does not have any MRT or LRT train stations, visitors will need to combine the train travel with an e-hailing ride, taxi, or event shuttle for the last leg of their journey.
From KL Sentral, take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit to KLIA. Both cost RM55 per trip at the counter, or RM49.50 when purchased through the KLIA Ekspres website or app. The KLIA Ekspres travels non-stop and takes approximately 28 minutes, while the KLIA Transit stops at several stations and takes around 35 minutes.
For a cheaper route, take the MRT Putrajaya Line to Putrajaya Sentral before transferring to KLIA Transit. Tickets from Putrajaya Sentral to KLIA cost RM9.40 at the counter or self-service kiosk, and RM8.50 online. Visitors can also pay using a contactless bank card at the gate.
From KLIA, the circuit is around 15 minutes away by road. Visitors can complete the last leg by e-hailing, taxi, or an event shuttle if one is available. Train tickets can be purchased up to 6 months in advance, so booking early can make the race-day journey smoother.
By shuttle bus

Visitors heading to Sepang International Circuit for the Bahrain Grand Prix from 2nd to 4th October 2026 can take a free Rapid KL shuttle bus from KLIA Terminal 2.
To reach the airport, take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit from KL Sentral. Alternatively, visitors can take the MRT Putrajaya Line to Putrajaya Sentral, then transfer to the KLIA Transit to KLIA Terminal 2 before boarding the shuttle to the circuit.
The free shuttle service operates from 7am to midnight, with buses arriving every 10 to 15 minutes, subject to traffic conditions. While the shuttle ride is free, visitors will still need to pay for their train journey.
By free Grab shuttle bus
For the race weekend from 2nd to 4th October, spectators can take free Grab shuttle buses to Sepang International Circuit from four shuttle hubs:
- Grab’s Pin & Ride Zone at the Long-Term Car Park (LTCP)
- Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang
- KLIA Terminal 2
- Bandar Baru Enstek (SK Kompleks KLIA)
Visitors can book an e-hailing ride to any of these hubs before boarding the bus to the circuit. Race tickets must be shown when joining the shuttle queue, so keep them handy.
Those taking a Grab to Grab’s Pin & Ride Zone at LTCP can also show their Grab booking to a marshal for priority boarding. Visitors arriving by public transport can book a Grab from their nearest train station to this hub to complete the journey.
After the race, free return shuttles will take spectators from the circuit back to any of the four hubs, where they can arrange their onward journey.
The best way to travel to Sepang International Circuit
With Formula 1 returning to Sepang International Circuit for the Bahrain Grand Prix from 2nd to 4th October, planning how to reach the grandstands is an important part of the race-day experience.
Whether you drive, book an e-hailing ride, take the train, or use an event shuttle, there are plenty of options in KL that you can choose from depending on which suits your budget and schedule.
