Spink In The Sky
Rain or shine, Chinese New Year or not, there is one thing that stays constant among Malaysians – our cravings for a warm, bubbling steamboat feast. The steamboat experience, with its spectacular spread of meats and vegetables ready to be dunked into a simmering broth, offers a sense of communion amongst family and loved ones.
For those in Penang who still haven’t sat down for a comforting steamboat fare this CNY, head to Spink In The Sky. Here, you can enjoy a nourishing feast on a rooftop with a majestic view of an illuminated Kek Lok Si temple – you’ll feel the festivities of CNY all around you, for sure.

Spink In The Sky is quite the food destination. Located on the rooftop of Deview Hotel Penang in Ayer Itam, the steamboat restaurant is truly as its name suggests – a dazzling rooftop dinner under the open skies.

Up on the rooftop, it is a thriving garden-like space that is a mix of luxury and comfort. Stylish and airy, you’ll find a handful of massive bubble dome tents for those who prefer a more private setting without forgoing the insane scenic views below.
The domes are spacious enough for a party of 10, so gather your makan kakis and experience having a feast at an altitude.

A highlight here is when darkness falls and patrons are treated with an unblocked view of Penang’s iconic Kek Lok Si temple, shining and glimmering against the night sky.

Those who opt to dine indoors won’t have to miss out on the beautiful oasis either. Similar to the al-fresco terrace, the indoor dining area is sophisticated yet cosy, with blinds drawn up so that patrons within get to soak up the gorgeous scene outside too.
