Super Matcha: Popular Cafe From Korea Now In KL With Goguma & Coconut Matcha Lattes

Super Matcha in KL

Matcha is having its moment in Malaysia, and frankly, we’re not complaining. While we can’t all fly to Japan just to try the best of the best, we have spots at home like Super Matcha to get our dose of vibrant green beverages.

The matcha brand from South Korea, best known for their unique matcha combinations, recently opened their first offshoot overseas in February 2025, located in the heart of KL at The Exchange TRX.

Understated ambience for matcha sips

Super Matcha’s aesthetically pleasing space is just what you’d expect from a cafe hailing from Korea. It tastefully pairs bare concrete floors with pops of pale green in the walls and counters that seem to blend seamlessly into each other.

The decor is kept to a minimum. Low benches to plop down on and enjoy a freshly whisked matcha drink are the main focal points of the cafe.

What to order at Super Matcha

No surprises, matcha is the star at Super Matcha. The brand prides itself on using ceremonial-grade organic matcha from Bosung, Korea, and calorie-free natural sweeteners in almost every drink item on the menu – save for the pure coffee drinks.

There are three ways to enjoy matcha here: Pure (from RM13) for unsweetened matcha with a base of water or latte; Crush (RM18/each) for matcha-based slushies; and Sweet (from RM15/each) that includes flavoured options with latte as a foundation.

Dairy milk alternatives – soy (RM3) and oat (RM4) – are also possible swap considerations for drink orders.

Most gravitate towards the Sweet options. If you enjoy lighter matcha and a milky finish, this lineup will have something for you.

The Super Matcha Latte (RM16), for starters, is a vegan-friendly signature that’s mild in matcha and easy to down. If your body can’t handle caffeine past noon, there’s a mild-matcha, caffeine-free option, the Super Bori Latte (RM15).

We recommend ordering the Coconut Matcha Latte (RM17). Only served iced, the drink has a pronounced matcha flavour and is perfectly well-balanced even with the additional coconut notes.

Super Matcha has two Exclusive drinks made specially for their first Malaysia store too: the Osmanthus and Goguma Matcha Lattes, priced RM18 each. The first is a must-try if you’re looking for a refreshing option, as it features the strong, fragrant, and sweet notes of Osmanthus tea. The latter contains just a subtle hint of goguma, or sweet potato.

Not all just beverages, Super Matcha has baked goods and icy desserts like the Matcha Burnt Cheesecake (RM18/slice) and Oat Matcha Snow (RM23) bingsu.

Korea’s Super Matcha now in Malaysia

With more of us being conscious of our drink orders, Super Matcha is worth considering if you’re looking for a spot with a lineup of matcha beverages that are calorie-free, vegan-friendly, and caffeine-free. Those making the switch to matcha drinks might also meet their match here, as the drinks are not too overpowering.
