This Family-Run Restaurant In KL Has Quality Pork Sausages & Siew Yoke That Might Just Meat Your Expectations

The Butcher’s Table in KL

There are sausages. And then there are sausages. If your past experience involves pale, rubbery tubes lacking both flavour and soul, The Butcher’s Table is here to change your mind – and your taste buds.

Started by a butcher-turned-restaurateur with generations of meat-loving know-how, this restaurant specialises in sausages that are made the old-school way. Think meaty, juicy, perfectly spiced, and full of character.

A fifth outlet is now open in Taman Desa

With the opening of its fifth outlet in the heart of Taman Desa’s Faber Towers, The Butcher’s Table continues to carve its legacy in Malaysia’s culinary scene. At its core, this is a story about meat, mastery, and family. The brand was born out of the seasoned hands of Mr Ho Kim Loon, a master butcher whose 30-year career is steeped in old-world technique and quiet perfectionism.

In the 1990s, he opened Mr Ho’s Fine Foods in Bangsar, introducing quality cured meats to a market barely familiar with the concept. Fast forward to the present, and the baton has been handed over to the next generation. Today, his children, Kent and Tiffany, stand beside him.

Their newly minted Taman Desa space is a refreshing extension of that family narrative. The glasshouse-inspired setting brings in soft natural light, framed by potted greenery and clean, modern lines.

It’s elegant without being stiff, the kind of place where you can dig into a slab of pork belly without ever feeling underdressed.

What to order at The Butcher’s Table

The dining experience here goes far beyond the plate. The Crispy Roast Pork (from RM25.50) arrives with the unapologetic crackle of a well-cooked siew yoke, the kind that echoes slightly as you bite through. The pork belly underneath is tender but not greasy, balanced, and thoughtfully seasoned.

Then come the sausages — easily the main characters of the meal. The Farmer’s Bratwurst (RM13.95) doesn’t pander. It’s earthy, herby, and wonderfully rustic. The cheese sausage, surprisingly elegant, melts in the mouth and has the kind of richness that could easily convert a sceptic.

These aren’t your average supermarket links. These are meat-forward, filler-free, nitrate-free creations that speak to the ethos of the brand: no shortcuts, no nonsense.

And then there’s the Tomapork (RM168.25) – part rib, part loin, part belly, wholly indulgent. Some will say that it’s worth the calories and the moolah. Charred at the edges, blushing pink within, and seared just right to preserve the juices. It’s not just meat on a plate. It’s proof that with the right hands, even the heaviest dish can feel balanced.

The Butcher’s Table at Taman Desa

What sets The Butcher’s Table apart isn’t just the food, though the food alone could carry the brand. It’s the sense of care – the fact that every sausage is hand-seasoned, every cut is thoughtfully sourced, and every decision, from menu to interiors, is deliberate.

So if you’ve given up on sausages after years of subpar encounters, consider this your redemption arc. The Butcher’s Table doesn’t just serve meat. It serves standards.
