Thrift shops in Klang Valley
Now that more Klang Valley folks are shopping at thrift shops instead of shopping malls, many of us are being reintroduced to the idea of buying pre-loved items.
The only thing that might hinder you from hopping on the bandwagon is that thrift shops and bundle stores tend to have a bad rep for having tight spaces that you have to weasel your way through to rummage for finds from piles of clothes. While this may be true for some, the idea of walking out of a store with a whole new outfit that doesn’t rip a hole through your wallet makes it worth it.
Here’s where to head for your next thrift-shopping spree:

- Tips for shopping at thrift shops
What are thrift shops or bundle stores?
If you’re thrift shopping in Malaysia, you’ll often hear locals referring to thrift shops or bundle stores. While both of these stores carry preloved items at their core, there is a slight difference between them.
Thrift shops are typically curated, meaning the owner of the store has done a percentage of the sifting and selecting for shoppers already. The curated clothes at a thrift shop tend to follow a certain trend as a result, with vintage and streetwear some popular styles. Despite the exclusivity, you only need a budget of about RM100 for a new addition to your wardrobe.
Bundle stores, on the other hand, tend to bring to mind messy and clogged aisles of clothes that are sorted without rhyme or reason. But this also means more range for thrifters, with bundle stores carrying items in “bulk” numbers. More bundle stores in recent years have shed this image, with labeled racks and sections to help shoppers out.

Tips for shopping at thrift shops
Though shopping is always exciting, there are a few tips that can prove useful, especially when it comes to thrift shopping.
- Check the store’s restock schedule. This way, you’ll get the first pick of newly arrived items.
- Scan everything carefully. Take your time scanning the racks – you might just stumble upon a rare gem.
- Inspect the quality. Check for stains, tears, odour, or missing buttons and broken zippers.
- Try everything on. Sizes can differ among international brands, so a perfect fit isn’t guaranteed.
