Now that more people are shopping at thrift shops instead of shopping malls, many of us are being reintroduced to the idea of buying pre-loved items.
The only thing that might hinder you from hopping on the bandwagon is that thrift shops tend to have a bad rep for being messy and unkempt. Though this may be true for a lot of bundle stores, there are plenty others where clean clothes are colour-coordinated on racks and organised neatly, so you don’t have to weasel your way out of tight spaces and rummage through piles of clothes.

Nestled in the second floor of unassuming shoplots in SS18, OkGo has the look and feel of an indie boutique. From the bright pops of pastel rattan chairs to the Persian rug as a centerpiece, their interior itself will win you over from the get-go.

As a curated thrift shop, it means that they’re selective with what they choose to sell. Despite the exclusivity, you only need a budget of about RM100 for a new addition to your wardrobe.

2. 2nd Street – one-stop shop for streetwear

If you ever end up in SS15, it’s probably because you’re joining the queues for bubble tea. Though if you walk past the infamous boba street, you’ll find a bundle store that’ll help you hypebeast your wardrobe up without breaking the bank.

Aptly named 2nd Street, the 2-storey shop carries everything from secondhand clothes to branded goods like bags, watches, and wallets. When it comes to street style, they boast a collection of trendy jackets and you’ll be able to find kicks to match.

Having 2 floors means that they have much more space to work with so you can make your way through the shop without feeling stifled. They also restock items everyday, which means you won’t have to wait for new seasons like you do with mainstream brands.

3. Bandoru Store – vintage & preloved items from Japan

Bandoru Store has been around in Malaysia since 2016, and known among thrift shoppers for carrying preloved items shipped in from Japan. They now operate five outlets nationwide, including three in Klang Valley in Cheras, Shah Alam, and Bangi.

They carry a wide variety of clothes, shoes, accessories, and bags from international brands such as Champion, Levi’s, Vans and Adidas. If you’re looking to sniff out a good deal on winter wear, they also have racks of coats and padded jackets from as low as RM60.

4. Wonder Bundle – give heels a new lease of life

Whether it’s for work or play, the perfect pair of heels will elevate your entire look. But if you’re not keen on making a big investment each time you spot a nice pair of heels, you can make a visit to Wonder Bundle instead.
The shop has a huge collection of high heels from familiar brands like YSL and Michael Kors, and other big names that you usually only find at KLCC and Pavilion Mall.

When it comes to thrifted looks, you’ll usually see a lot of retro or vintage pieces, but Refash is an option for those who prefer to dress in the latest trends. Their outlets in KL have become a fast favourite for dresses and skirts.

Be it floral prints or pastel colours you’re looking for, you’re bound to find something in this boutique-like store. As they only accept clothes that are in new condition and in trend, you’ll never have to experience a thrift shopper’s worst nightmare — dirty, outdated clothes.

Just because you’re not living the atas life, doesn’t mean you can’t dress like it. Luxury Vintage sells authentic preloved branded goods, so if you’re looking to become the new owner of a Gucci or Chanel bag, you can swing by here.
You’ll be able to snag accessories from almost any luxury brands that come to mind. Don’t expect to see the same affordable prices as the other thrift shops though – we are talking about some of the most expensive names in the market after all.

We tend to complain about the hot weather even before the heat wave hits – it’s no surprise that Malaysians are already planning to fly off for a winter vacay abroad. If you’re gonna be spending your days overseas in the snow, you need to factor in winter wear as well.

9. Jalan Jalan Japan – pre-loved clothes from RM1
Jalan Jalan Japan is a bargain hunter’s paradise, due to its vast variety of pre-loved items imported from Japan with price tags as low as RM1.
These items include preloved apparel and accessories. All their outlets in Malaysia similarly boast aisles of them with options ranging from winter jackets to summer hats, and ladies heels to Japanese clogs.
The aisles of clothing items here are also neatly arranged according to size and garment type, so you won’t have to spend too long sifting through entire aisles if you’re looking for something specific.
There are designated aisles for women, men, kids and toddlers too.
