Uncle surprises his wife with roses at work
Most elderly couples show their love for each other through subtle acts – think caring nags, cooked meals, and loads of compromise. Because we often associate obvious romantic gestures with younger couples, we are especially moved when we see sweet moments shared between the elderly.
This Malaysian uncle, for one, touched local netizens’ hearts with his Valentine’s Day surprise, showing there’s no age limit to sweet romantic acts. He surprised his wife of 46 years at her workplace with a bouquet of roses tucked in the back of his pants.

Huan Amber Ng shared a video on her TikTok account of her father surprising her mother on 14th February 2022, or Valentine’s Day, in the most adorable way.
The short clip showed her father Mr Ng walking towards her mother, who had been working at the time. Tucked in the waistband of Mr Ng’s pants was a bouquet of three red roses that he wanted to surprise his wife with.
At first, his wife didn’t appear to sense anything out of the ordinary about his visit. But as he approached her, he brought the flowers out with a grand sweep of his hand, surprising her thoroughly.
Chuffed at the successful outcome of his surprise gift, Mr Ng could be seen grinning from ear to ear in the video while his wife gave him a thankful side hug.

In an interview with The Smart Local Malaysia, Amber shared that her father is retired, and her mother is currently working in a garment factory to pass time.
As there was no flower shop in their village, Mr Ng took the effort to drive quite a distance to buy a nice bouquet from a proper florist. Amber also revealed that the idea was entirely her father’s, and it was his first time gifting his wife with roses.

“My dad isn’t normally this romantic, but he is a family person, and a superhero to his children,” Amber told The Smart Local Malaysia. “He takes really good care of the family and the house, always making sure that we all are safe. My mum is also an extraordinary cook – you can never say no to her food. That is why my dad loves to stay home.”

As Amber and her brothers currently live in Singapore, they have not been able to visit their parents often due to the pandemic. She said that she hopes to be able to take her parents on a family vacation again soon, just like she used to before Covid-19 hit.
“As their children, we are so lucky to have them. And I truly wish that they could be my parents in my next life too,” she laughed. “It is not easy being parents, but they are the best. We love them so much!”
Proves that there is no age limit to love
It is not only heartwarming to see love thrive for so long between a couple that has been together for many years, but it is also extremely inspiring. While some might argue that such gestures are not necessary to keep a relationship going, it is rather the contrary – small touches of lovely acts for your partner really do nurture a relationship over time.
