8 Wood-Fired Pizza Spots In Klang Valley To Fulfil Your Cravings For Good Blistered Pie

Wood-fired pizza spots in Klang Valley

Everyone loves pizza nights. While there are the go-to pizza chains that satisfy our cravings for pepperoni and cheese pies, there are also a good number of joints in Klang Valley that rely on a wood-fired oven to impart an appealing hint of smokiness to each pizza.

If you’re ready to elevate that regular order of cheesy, tomato-sauced pie, here are 8 spots in Kuala Lumpur (KL) and Petaling Jaya (PJ) for wood-fired pizzas.

What is a wood-fired pizza?

Good pizza takes time.

Crackly crust, perfect chars, and a poofy, lightly chewy crumb, wood-fired pizzas require a skilled hand to make and knowledge of how to stoke a fire.

Originating from Naples, Italy, this way of cooking a pizza involves shoving dough into high-heat brick ovens, fueled by coal or fire, to achieve that signature crispness, slight smokiness, and char freckles around the edges of the crust.

1. Good News Pizza

Founded in 2023 and located in KL’s Petaling Street, Good News Pizza tops this list for its stellar example of a leopard-spot crusted pizza – a hallmark of a good pizza that’s been charred with hardwood fire.

Complementing this perfectly charred pizza base are toppings that incorporate local fresh produce. Notes on the menu indicate what’s sourced locally, usually from Cameron Highlands, which is a nice touch if you’re always looking to support locals wherever you can.

Price-wise, Good News Pizza’s Neopolitan-style pizzas are priced from RM19 for the classic Marinara, and up to RM80 for their priciest option, an extravagant pie loaded with tiger prawns.

Pizza Mansion needs little to no introduction among the passionate pizza peeps in Klang Valley. The pizza joint – which gets its name from its OG location in PJ’s Happy Mansion – has become the go-to for woodfired pies.

It now operates two other branches in KL, at Jalan Mesui and The Five, which is a testament to its popularity.

The 11-inch pizzas here are priced between RM22 and RM60. Some standout toppings that have diners returning for more are the earthy Magic Mushroom, robust Lamb, creamy Carbonara, generously-spread Anchovy Marinara, and vegetarian-friendly Pesto.

Go for the Margherita (from RM49) pizza. It may look simple, but it nails the pizza flavour well, from the crust to the bed of melty cheese that coats the tomato base. You can choose to have cow’s milk cheese or buffalo cheese to top this pizza.

Opt to round your meal off with Round Pizza’s must-try Tiramisu Cake (RM36). Presented in a neat glass cup, this scrumptious dessert deserves a special mention, with visible stacks of ladyfinger biscuits layered with coffee-stained mascarpone cheese and topped with chocolate chunks.
