YODmilk Shop: RM4.80 Bagels With Spreads Like Milky Taro Paste & Coriander Cream Cheese In Subang Jaya

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya

It takes a sharp eye to spot YODmilk Shop. This quaint-looking cafe is nestled among time-worn shoplots in Taipan, Subang Jaya, hidden beneath the towering signboards of paint brands.

Ironically, you can look to the towering signboards to locate the cafe.

But even with its unassuming location, YODmilk Shop has garnered much attention from foodies for its affordable bagels, priced from just RM4.80 each. Their taro-filled bagel, in particular, has emerged as a crowd favourite – with that, we dropped by the store to see what the hype is about.

Affordable sweet & savoury bagels

Seats are pretty scarce at YODmilk Shop. But don’t let this scare you away, as patrons mostly drop by for brekkie to-go. The shop opens early at 7am, just in time for the 9-to-5 squad to grab a bag of bagels and a cup of coffee before clocking in.

We considered ourselves lucky to secure a table and three chairs when we visited, as there was already a queue forming at the counter – a sure sign of the hype of the freshly made bagels here.

The owner of the shop takes pride in serving what he claims to be “the most affordable coffee” in town too. At just RM3.30, you can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Americano. A foamy Latte is priced at a similarly modest RM6.80.

He also takes his signature fruit-based fresh milk (from RM14.80) very seriously. Each bottle is made with 100% real fruits and fresh milk, guaranteeing pureness in every sip. Avocado, strawberry, and banana are among the popular picks.

Here’s our verdict

We had to try the OG bagel – aptly named Original. The bagel was lightly salted, making it a good blank canvas for the slather of milky taro spread that we opted for.

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya - original taro

We especially loved the presence of taro bits in the smooth spread, as it was a testament to the homemade nature of the paste. The combination was a flashback to the taro buns we used to get from local Chinese bakeries as kids, but more delicate and less sweet.

It was crafted to make us want more with every bite.

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya - cranberry matcha

Coupling the Cranberry Bagel with matcha spread also turned out to be a great idea. The fruity sweetness of the cranberries righteously balanced out the bitter tea taste.

The matcha spread was so generously slathered onto the bagel that it left a dark green trail along the toasted edge.

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya - coriander

For something savoury, we tried another pairing – the Original bagel and coriander cream cheese.

It’s a love-or-hate game with coriander, but we were on Team Coriander when it comes to the shop’s coriander spread. The cream cheese carried some serious tang, accentuating the distinct coriander flavour even more.

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya - bagels

Overall, we found the fillings to be tasty, but the texture of the bagels really stole the spotlight for us.

They were like Lady Gaga – so amazing they needed no extras to stand out.

With their golden-brown exterior reminiscent of sun-kissed skin after a trip to the beach, you just knew they’d be crispy. And sure enough, the bagels crackled and crisped as we pulled them apart to reveal its fillings, all without sacrificing on a soft and chewy interior.

YODmilk Shop in Subang Jaya - avocado milk

The Avocado Milk is also an absolute must try. It was one of the purest fruit-based milks we ever had, offering a rich and soothing buttery mouthfeel. The experience was akin to slurping real avocados.

We overheard an uncle suggesting that the owner add more seats to the shop. And we couldn’t agree more. With tasty bagels and milk drinks that has our and many others’ stamps of approval, YODmilk Shop is bound to attract more customers in no time.
