There’s A New Alpaca Farm In Perak With Quirky Photo Spots & A Cafe, Just 30 Minutes From Ipoh

This is a scenario you’ve probably faced before – it’s Friday night and you’re trying to figure out what to do on your day off. While the shopping malls are always an option, a day trip to a popular locale in the country sounds enticing too.

Whether you’re an Ipoh lang or out-of-towner, pencil in a visit to the newly opened Zahara Garden in Perak that has fluffy alpacas to cuddle up next to. A collection of over 20 photo spots await visitors, as well as a cafe to sip on coffee and fawn over the alpacas.

Nestled in the town of Gopeng, just a 30-minute drive from Ipoh, is Zahara Garden. This attraction recently opened its doors to nature and animal lovers alike, garnering much attention from locals as it’s the first alpaca petting zoo in the state.

The farm is home to 12 sociable alpacas, which have been brought in from Australia. They roam freely in a pen, so visitors can snuggle up next to a fluffy creature and take a selfie for keepsakes.

If you’d like to have a photo with more than one of them, purchase a pack of feed for a small fee of RM1. This will surely bring a bunch of the floofiest of floofballs to you.

Tickets to Zahara Garden are priced at RM25/adult (13 years old & above) and RM15/pax for children (3-12 years old) and senior citizens.


Farm animals, photo spots & a cafe

While the alpacas are no doubt the main stars at Zahara Garden, it also houses various farm animals such as chickens, peacocks, and pigeons. You are welcomed to feed or pet them in their pens, for some back-to-kampung fun.

Don’t forget to give some love to the adorable rabbits here as well.

Once you’ve said hello to all the animals, you can snap photos with the fam at photo spots scattered around the garden. Each photo spot is unique in its own way – find a heart-shaped arch and even a refurbished school bus that’s been painted a cheery shade of pink.

There’s also a photo spot that recreates the doorway of the Hobbit homes from the Lord of the Rings movies.

When you start to feel thirsty and hungry from all the fun, take a break at Zahara Garden’s in-house cafe that’s fully air-conditioned. It serves various foods like pasta and nasi lemak, and beverages.

What’s better, is that you get a clear view of the cute alpacas from the glass window.
