Located on the second floor of a neighbourhood mini market called A1 Fresh, Cotta is pretty well-hidden from plain sight – you’ll even have to enter the cafe via a staircase located inside the market. Keep your eyes peeled for a clear door, and a neon-lit “Cotta” sign that beckons patrons at the top of the flight of stairs and from the window.Â

Inside Cotta, there are large windows that allow natural light to flood the dining space, making it a comfortable spot for brunch over toasts and more. Foodies who appreciate simple spaces and a galore of greenery will also appreciate this cosy cafe, as there are live plants decorating the industrial-style space that resembles a glasshouse.

The intentional, no-frills interior lets customers fully immerse themselves in the flavours of their ricotta-based menu without being distracted.

Run by an enthusiastic team of chefs, Cotta focuses on serving quality meals that complement its fresh ricotta cheese. Though choices may be limited here, the flavours of their small bites pack a punch.
One of the highlights is their creamy and zesty Smoked Salmon (RM26) – which is a slice of sourdough topped with Atlantic smoked salmon, homemade ricotta spread and runny sous-vide egg yolk.

If you’re a meat lover, try their Chuck Mooris (RM25) – a hearty toast topped with Australian pulled beef and ricotta cheese, and drizzled with an in-house fragrant Chimichurri sauce that has a kick of cili padi. This toast is recommended for those who like bold, spicy flavours.
Cotta also serves sweet ricotta toasts, such as their refreshing Blueberry Special (RM23)Â slathered generously with mint-infused blueberry jam, and garnished with lavender flowers and fresh blueberries. You can also try The Classic (RM18), which comprises buttered sourdough toasts dusted with toasted walnuts, sea salt, rose petals and honey.

While you’re at Cotta, you can browse for goods from local, small businesses – ranging from Homemade Granola (RM15) to Homemade Soy Candles (RM30) – at a dedicated space for artisanal goods inside the cafe.
