The first ‘Chainsaw Man’ pop-up in Malaysia
Fresh off the success of the Solo Leveling Experience just a month ago, another anime event is revving up in KL again. This time round, it’s the Chainsaw Man Pop-Up, which is also the first ever official event of that anime to be held in Malaysia, so you’ll want to grab your squad and discover the devilish world of the anime, happening from 19th April 2025 onwards.
Here’s what you can experience at the pop-up event:
What to expect at the Chainsaw Man pop-up in KL
Think a Chainsaw Man-themed fever dream brought to life – that’s the Chainsaw Man Pop-Up for you. The event is now welcoming fans to experience the thrill of the anime for themselves, at Level 3 of Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
For the uninitiated, Chainsaw Man is a manga-turned-anime series, which follows a teenager named Denji who gains the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws after his pet and Chainsaw devil Pochita enters his body. He becomes part of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency that fights Devils.
The organizers of this event, ACOLAB, promises visitors an immersive experience with plenty of installations and activities, including a themed cafe, an official merchandise store, and plenty of curated photo zones. But the fun doesn’t end there – the pop-up will introduce new themed game zones to amp up the frenzy.
New game zones
Upon entering the exhibition area, you’ll be greeted by life-sized standees of the characters in the anime. Take your time to pose with each one of them, before heading into the next few thrilling sections – the brand-new game zones.
The first mission is called Battle against the Demons, where you can help eradicate the pesky demons by aiming and throwing a ‘blood hammer’ at each of them. Knock three down, and you’ve passed mission number 1, which also means you’ve earned yourself a free coaster with the face of your favourite character.
Head on to the next game Finding Pochita, and get busy searching for the correct Pochita pose as requested by the staff. You’ll be given 15 seconds to rummage through a box containing acrylic Pochita cutouts in various poses, and if you manage to pick out the correct one, that’s another mission won. Scoring a winning streak of two will make you eligible for a lucky draw.
A themed cafe & a merch store
At the end of the exhibition, drop by the merchandise store to get yourself a keepsake from your visit in the form of postcards (RM18), keychains (RM64), acrylic stands (RM25), mugs (RM55), and all kinds of Pochita plushies.
There’s a good amount of apparels and accessories on sale as well, including jackets (RM239), T-shirts (RM139), tote bags (RM108), caps (RM149), and sling bags (RM220).
Battling the Devils as part of the Public Safety Devil Hunters will have you famished, so head to the themed cafe with a huge appetite. Right next to the pop-up area is the ACOLAB Cafe, where you’ll find the exclusive menu boasting a variety of mains, drinks, and desserts, all creatively crafted to look as good as they taste.
Mains on offer are the Chainsaw Man Burger (RM37.90) and the Aki Veggie Curry (RM36.90), opt for refreshing beverages such as the Power’s Berry Juice (RM20) and Makima’s Roselle Tea (RM20) alongside your meals, and then wrap up your visually-appealing feast with more pretty desserts like the Pochita Pudding (RM20.90) or Denji Honey Butter Toast (RM21.90).
