As the Chinese New Year rush approaches, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has unveiled a festive travel treat for those heading north this year. The rail operator’s Railway to See Malaysia (RTSM) is a special excursion train service set to run in February, offering passengers a relaxing alternative to road travel during the festive period.

KTMB has always joined the joy of festivities by offering special train services. For this CNY, the Railway to See Malaysia (RTSM), will operate between KL Sentral and Padang Besar over four dates in February: 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th.

Each journey is designed to help travellers beat the notorious highway congestion that typically builds up during festive periods, especially when families are making their annual return journeys home.

When it comes to capacity, this special train service has a total of 1,344 seats available across its special trips. Passengers can choose from standard seats, superior class, and superior sleeper coaches with beds for overnight comfort.

The trains will depart from KL Sentral in the late evening, making for a restful rail journey into the early hours of the next day.

The RTSM train stops at several major stations along the route, giving passengers flexibility in where they begin or end their trip.

Some of the scheduled stops include Sungai Buloh, Tanjung Malim, Kampar, Ipoh, Taiping, Sungai Petani, and Alor Setar, before finally arriving in Padang Besar, close to the Malaysia–Thailand border.

Fares for this special service start from RM70 for superior seats and RM90 for superior sleeper berths, making it an attractive choice for families, seniors, and anyone who prefers to travel in a way that’s easy on the body and the spirit.

Tickets can be purchased cashlessly through KTMB’s Mobile app (KITS), ticket kiosks, ticket counters at stations, or via the official KTMB website.
