A Very Laufey Day events in Malaysia
Even if you don’t know her name, chances are that you’ve heard of Icelandic jazz singer Laufey with her soulful voice and bossa nova beats emanating from the speakers of various cafes throughout Malaysia. And if you’re a hardcore Lauver – or Laufey fan – it’s very likely that you’ve heard of A Very Laufey Day.
The global fan event returns to Malaysia on 23rd August 2026, with cafes and galleries welcoming Lauvers who are looking to sip on matchas, explore galleries, and bury their noses in books.

What is A Very Laufey Day?

Jazz singer Laufey started A Very Laufey Day in 2023, a fan event dedicated to appreciating music, film, dance, theatre, visual art, and literature by supporting local businesses across more than 75 cities in over 25 countries.
This year’s iteration of the global fan event will take place on 23rd August, with cafes, a gallery, and bookstores in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, and Johor Bahru part of the one-day event in Malaysia.
Where to go for A Very Laufey Day in Malaysia?
1. Eternyl Vinyl

If you’re in the mood to wind down and appreciate music, especially with high-quality headphones connected to a record turntable playing, head to Eternyl Vinyl. The music record cafe will be rolling out two Laufey-inspired drinks: Laufey’s Rhapsody in Green and Laufey’s Rhapsody in Blue.
Eternyl Vinyl also has an exclusive collection of Laufey albums on vinyl, so you can sit back and enjoy the drinks with her tunes coming through headphones. This collaboration will be available at both of their outlets in Sea Park and SS18, so you can visit either in PJ.
The cafe will also be giving fans a free limited-edition Laufey cup sleeve and sticker with their purchases, while stocks last.
2. Del’cs Retail & 1800 Matcha and Chocolate

If you’re feeling like your look needs a bit more glam for the day, head over to consignment store Del’cs Retail and 1800 Matcha and Chocolate in Taman Paramount. Here, you can pick out Laufey-inspired pieces like frilly dresses and bows that are perfect for the occasion while sipping on specially made Laufey drinks – Rhapsody in Blue, which mixes matcha creap with blue pea honey milk, and Rhapsody in Green, a honey oat matcha latte.
Once you’ve finished shopping, swing by their Laufey-themed photo booth, complete with exclusive frames made just for the day, to share your fit for A Very Laufey Day.
3. OrGelato

Situated in The MET Corporate Towers, homegrown gelato parlour OrGelato will roll out two exclusive flavours inspired by Laufey’s songs, Dreamer and Lovesick. The gelato will be in her favourite flavours, chocolate and matcha, too.
4. A4 Art Gallery

Laufey has designated A4 Art Gallery on Level 3 at GMBB as this year’s Celebration of The Arts stop, which encourages fans to get out and explore their local art scene. The Malaysian gallery will be running their STICKY FRIENDS exhibition, which you’ll get to catch on A Very Laufey Day in Malaysia.

The exhibition features over 60 artists from all over the world showcasing original sticker art, collectable sticker merch, and other special creations, which visitors can view and buy to take home.
5. General Store

Another cafe that’s on the itinerary list for A Very Laufey Day is Kuchai Lama’s General Store. This cafe is made to mimic the look of a small-town general store in rural America that sells a little bit of everything.
Similar to Eternyl Vinyl, General Store will be serving Laufey-inspired speciality flavoured drinks – Rhapsody in Blue and Rhapsody in Green – and handing out special Laufey stickers for you to collect.
6. Artigusto Gelato

There’s nothing quite like beating the Malaysian heat with an icy dessert. So if you’re in or headed to PJ to celebrate A Very Laufey Day, don’t skip out on Artigusto Gelato in Taman Paramount. They have three limited-time Laufey-curated flavours, including Laufberry (Strawberry), Dreamer Matcha, and Lovesick Chocolate.
7. BookXcess REXKL & The Library by BookXcess
If you’re after something quieter once the shopping and sipping wind down, KL and PJ each have a bookstore worth the detour to.
BookXcess in REXKL is tucked onto the second floor of the cultural building. Its towering, floor-to-ceiling shelves wind through in a labyrinthine layout where you can get lost among the shelves. Further out in PJ, The Library by BookXcess at Sunway Square Mall is the newer, grander sibling, boasting a 38,000-square-foot space billed as Southeast Asia’s largest 24-hour bookstore.
The newer bookstore is built for lingering, as they stock over one million books, making it the ideal stop to slow down and browse if your Laufey Day runs late.
