Angsana Teluk Bahang Hotel is a new resort in Penang

Malaysians are always looking to locales such as Langkawi for beachfront hotels that lets us take in some of our country’s best features. But with the wealth of islands and coastal towns all around us, you’d be surprised at other gems that you can find hiding in other cities or states.

Case in point: this new resort in Tanjung Bungah, Penang called Angsana Teluk Bahang that boasts 250 rooms that all come with sea views. There’s also an infinity pool in the resort’s premises where you can catch stunning sunsets against a backdrop of picturesque mountains. Tanjung Bungah is a cosy coastal town that’s just a 30-minute drive from George Town, and a 15-minute drive from attractions in Penang such as butterfly farm Entopia. While you’ll see a handful of attractions in this town, such as a floating mosque, several hotel and apartment buildings have been cropping up along its coastline for visitors to enjoy views of its scenic beaches.

One of them happens to be Angsana Teluk Bahang, a new resort managed by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts. The group has over 40 resorts, hotels, and spas in countries such as Morocco and the Maldives, including one in Kuala Lumpur. Tanjung Bungah, Penang is the latest to join the list.

A stunning open deck just next to the pool dubbed the Jubilee Pavilion is yet another spot to take in all the nature and sea sights. Its cosy outdoor seating area is perfect for you to whip out your phone to snap shots while waiting for the sun to set. There’s also a poolside bar here called Jendela Coffee Bar which serves up cocktails and cups of coffee.

Accessible from the resort as well is Teluk Bahang Beach, a sandy beach with clear waters to dip your feet into. Find bean bags and umbrellas lined up along the sandy beach too for you to kick back and enjoy the sea breeze.
