August is marked by celebrations and events leading up to Malaysia’s National Day. But it’s well-known to all Malaysians as a time of major discounts and deals for Merdeka in August too. To make the most of all the deals major brands and retailers are offering before the month of August 2020 is up, we’ve narrowed down some of the best discounts that you can take advantage of – from free Hokkaido cheese tarts and beauty products to RM1 ice cream.
1. Breakout – 50% off 2nd escape room game

Thrill-seekers and those who want to be detectives will be glad to know that Breakout Malaysia is having a 50% off tickets on second games for their interactive escape rooms until the end of August 2020.
This deal applies to tickets (RM50/pax) from Monday to Thursday. Those swinging by on Fridays and the weekend will get a 25% off deal too. There are over 12 escape rooms with different themes and puzzles, as well as difficulty levels, to explore.
Breakout Malaysia has outlets at NU Sentral and Avenue K, featuring different sets of stories. Those in for a scarefest can drop by the Avenue K outlet for a puppet-themed story called Mr. Oswald’s Greatest Show, where you’ll have to work out the identity of a mysterious puppeteer.
You can also opt for an Online Escape Room Session (RM250/5 pax) where you’ll navigate an escape room as a team of hackers trying to save a missing person. It’s also live, so you’ll be interacting with actors to solve puzzles through Zoom. The whole session will last you up to 60 minutes, and you can join on your smartphone, tablet or PC, with 4 of your pals dialing in too.

2. The Body Shop – up to 70% discount on beauty and body products

3. K Fry – up to 20% off online and self pick-up orders

Ever since homegrown brand K Fry opened their doors in Malaysia, there’s been snaking lines at their outlets with many wanting to get their share of the popular cheesy Korean fried chicken.
