You Can Now Try Soft Serve, Parfaits & Cakes Made With Beryl’s Chocolate At The Homegrown Brand’s First Cafe In PJ

Beryl’s Cafe at Sunway Pyramid

We Malaysians are fiercely proud of homegrown food brands. When it comes to chocolates, most of us turn to Beryl’s Chocolate, which has been around since 1995. While we already love to snack on their chocolate, they’ve recently opened their very first cafe at Sunway Pyramid, in Petaling Jaya, which serves an array of rich, chocolatey desserts and drinks.

What is Beryl’s Cafe?

With over 20 outlets and three factories across the country, Beryl’s is a beloved homegrown chocolate brand that now has its first-ever cafe. Opened on 4th December, the cafe can be found in Sunway Pyramid, selling desserts, an array of chocolate treats, and soft serve.

The highlight of this cafe is the full-sized chocolate bars that you can buy for RM29/100g. What makes it special is that these are not plain dark chocolate bars that you can usually just swipe off the shelves. They come in nine different flavours, with a mix of nuts and fruits.

Their best-seller would be the White Chocolate with Strawberry Chips & Dried Cranberries. But it doesn’t hurt to try their Lemon White Chocolate with Candied Orange Peel and Pistachio Chocolate with Macadamia Nut, which incorporate even more fruity and nutty flavours into an already decent dark chocolate bar.

What to order at Beryl’s Cafe

House of Chocolate with Macaron

A cafe isn’t complete without a signature drink. The House of Chocolate with Macaron (RM19) is the signature drink at Beryl’s Cafe.

This drink is not your regular, ordinary chocolate milk that you would get from a convenience store. It has a nice, smooth texture and a pure dark chocolate taste that isn’t overly sweet. It tastes almost like you’re sipping on a melted dark chocolate bar. It’s the perfect drink for anyone who doesn’t like sweet chocolate drinks.

Decorated on top are cocoa powder and a single macaron floating at the top. The macaron has a slightly sweet taste alongside a smooth, nutty filling. Having this nutty delight with a smooth and thick chocolate drink is a culinary experience you don’t want to miss out on.

Double Chocolate Mousse

To go with your drink, you have to get a food item.

Beryl’s Cafe has several options for mini cakes behind a glass display, but for something dark-chocolate-forward, the Double Chocolate Mousse (RM16) is worth a try.

This dessert has a chocolate cake base with two mousse layers and a chocolate mousse swirl sprinkled with gold sprinkles. It may look small in size, but its incredibly rich flavour makes it a good shareable dish to have with your bestie or bae after meals.

Dark Chocolate Parfait

If you could only choose one menu item from the cafe, the Dark Chocolate Parfait (RM28) is the perfect dessert choice. It is the all-rounder of desserts.

This parfait excels with its texture. It has wafer biscuits, crumbled butter cookies, brownie chunks, and crushed chocolate bits. And if you’re craving a chocolate strawberry taste, think something along the lines of Neopolitan ice cream that has melted into each other, there’s a smooth layer of strawberry cream with cacao nib jelly that adds a fruity sweetness to the layers of chocolate in the cup.

The dark chocolate soft serve on top can cool your mouth with a blanket of rich cacao taste. Lastly, under all the layers of this heavenly dessert are brownie bites to satisfy your cake cravings.
