Children’s Festival 2024 at Gardens by the Bay
We’re always looking for places to explore come the weekends. With an upcoming long weekend in June, we can plan more than just a trip to the mall on our days off.
For a mini overseas trip without travelling too far, Singapore is always a good option. One spot to hit there is Gardens by the Bay for the annual Children’s Festival. Held from 25th May to 22nd June 2024, the free admission event is an outdoor carnival themed around the core emotions from Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2, with interactive installations and free activities.
Here’s everything you need to know about it:
Explore installations themed around Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2
Watching Inside Out when we were younger is likely a core memory for many of us. The relatable protagonist Riley and her range of personified emotions sure had us feeling all the feels.
At Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove, you’ll get to face all these emotions IRL at its Inside Out 2-themed Children’s Festival. There are six installations at the carnival event to explore, understand, and fear-lessly engage with emotions from the film.
Kaleidoscope Of Memories opens till 9pm instead of 7pm like the other installations, except on Mondays when it is closed from 8pm-8.30pm for the Borealis light show, so you can appreciate the full spectrum of colours to the max even at night.

Taking centre stage, below one of the Gardens’ famed Supertrees, is the Kaleidoscope Of Memories, which brings to life a portion of the Long Term Memory storage facility from the animated film.
A curved wall displays candy-coloured orbs of memories, like in the film’s memory storage facility. You can see your own Memory Orb projected on the animated wall too.
Just scan a QR code at the installation, strike a pose with an emotion that matches your mood onsite, and upload the creative snap.

There’s also a Memory Orb Mountain, a play area where the kiddos can run and jump around with giant, inflatable “Memory Orbs”.

Besides experiencing core emotions like Joy at the swing sets at Mood Swings and Sadness at the doodling-zone Expression Doodles, you’ll also be introduced to new teenage-puberty emotions from Inside Out 2.

This includes Ennui, who inspired Fort Pillowtown. This zone is basically every kid’s dream brought to life, full of pillows to laze on or construct pillow fortresses with – all in the spirit of the listless emotion.

At Emotion Mirrors, you’ll learn to embrace Fear and Anxiety while wandering through a psychedelic mirror maze, with timed challenges to navigate through.
Fringe performances & light shows at Children’s Festival
No matter if you’re a kiddo or just a fan of the film, there’s something for everyone to explore at the Children’s Festival this year. Besides snapping creative shots and exploring the various installations, there are other free activities to check out around Gardens by the Bay.
For one, there are fringe performances like Bubble Fantasy on selected evenings and nights, with a bubble-blowing master conjuring bubbles of all sizes for you to poke and prod at.

Also not to be missed is The Medley Of Emotions, a mesmerising light and music show. You’ll get to see the Supertrees in a new light even as a repeat visitor, as the Supertrees and Memory Orbs within the Kaleidoscope of Memories installation illuminate in vibrant colours in harmony with the Inside Out 2 soundtrack.
The light show takes place at 7.45pm and 8.45pm, every night during the event.

With blooming roses, fountains, and classical architecture on display at its Flower Dome, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a serene Mediterranean courtyard.
Do note there’s a fee to enter the Flower Dome.

You don’t have to fly across the ocean to have a memorable holiday. While Singapore shares much in common with Malaysia, there are locations and events there worth travelling to experience, including Gardens by the Bay for their Children’s Festival 2024.
So whether you’re a grown-up looking for a family-friendly activity for the whole fam, or a movie buff gearing up for the release of Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 on 13th June, there’ll be much to explore and add to your core memories there.
