3. Alph Studio – from RM520
If you’ve spent some time around APW Bangsar, you would’ve noticed a handful of pink and purple-haired people flaunting their fresh bombshell blowouts. If you’re wondering which big shot salon is behind these pastel locks, it’s Alph Studio.
This iconic look is titled “Soft Unicorn Pastel Ombre” and was achieved by the efforts of 2 stylists
They may not be as well known as some of the other salons in this list, but they’ve been around for a good decade or so and were previously known as Kenzo. In fact, regulars make up at least a quarter of their clientele.

The stylists here have a special knack at mixing up pastel colours for the ultimate unicorn hair. It’s a huge feat considering there are a ton more factors to take into account when doing pastel hair. For starters, the hair needs to be bleached properly to achieve a clean base and it’s certainly not easy to come out with an exact swatch of the client’s desired shade.
The salon has an all-white interior with some wooden counters and brown leather chairs for contrast

Bleaching will cost you RM180 and upwards, depending on your hair length. For multi-tone colours, prices start from RM340.
Address: Level 1, Commercial Lot, Nadi Bangsar, Jalan Tandok, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur
Opening hours: Wed-Mon 10.30am-8am (Closed on Tuesdays)

Once you get started on colouring your hair, there’s no going back to black – or at least that’s what most people say. And if you’ve ticked off every colour you could possibly think off from your list, you can always choose to go for a mix of colours instead of just 1 or 2. If you’re interested in doing it rainbow-style, pay a visit to The Soloists Salon in Bukit Bintang.

7. Le Classic Hair Studio – from RM468
Colouring your hair doesn’t come cheap, but those with waist-length hair usually feel the pinch the most as it can easily cost you a minimum of RM1,000.
This makes Le Classic the more affordable and reasonable choice for those with waist-length hair as they charge about RM500-600. It doesn’t mean you’ll be shortchanged in terms of quality though as you’ll still leave with IG-ready hair that you’ll want to immediately show off.

They also use Olaplex, a treatment that many big-time celebrities swear by when getting their tresses bleached. With this treatment, you’ll be left with minimal damage and hair that’s still soft to the touch.
Aside from hair colours, you can also consider getting an Air Wave Perm or Bodily Straight Treatment (both from RM258).
Muslim customers are also welcome to get their hair done at Le Classic as they have a private room that can be booked when you’re making your appointment.

9. Walking On Sunshine – from RM240
Walking On Sunshine, formerly Leekaja, is one of the few hair salons in KL that was founded in South Korea almost. While they were first established almost 50 years ago and came from a time when choppy layered cuts and super-tight curls were considered trendy looks, they do a good job of keeping up with the times.

11. Aizu Hair Salon – price upon consultation
Aizu Hair Salon in KL is the brand’s first outlet outside of Japan. Each stylist at the salon has to first undergo training in Japan before they start their job at Aizu KL. Their training does not only cover the technical side of the job but they’re also expected to excel in the hospitality area, which the Japanese take great pride in. Their expertise and hospitality make Aizu worthy of a spot in this list of hair salons in KL.

When it comes to brightly dyed hair, there’s always the risk of the colour fading off way too soon. While most stylists will simply tell you to avoid washing your hair as much as you can, the people over at C. Michael London use quality products that ensure the colour you paid hundreds of ringgit for will last longer than just a week or two.
