JONETZ by Don Don Donki opening in Lot 10, 19th March
Don Don Donki was the talk of the town back in July 2020 when it was first announced that the Japanese discount chain store would be opening its first outlet in Malaysia. After months of anticipation, it’s been confirmed that the store will be opening in Lot 10, on 19th March 2021, and will be a concept store named JONETZ by Don Don Donki.

Officially opening on 19th March 2021, 10AM, JONETZ by Don Don Donki is located at Lot 10 – a well-known mall in Bukit Bintang. The store spans 3 stories, and occupies an area of over 23,000 sqm – or the size of over 47 basketball courts.Â
Expect to find everything from Japanese snacks to beauty products, and seasonal fruits to household goods here – similar to the store’s assortment of products in its other outlets around the world.
What’s special in this store is that it will carry Muslim-friendly products. There is a meat section where you will find Wagyu beef and more, all sourced from a Halal-certified factory.
Also keep a lookout for a section named “RM5 Ringgit Section”, where you’ll find a selection of products on offer.Â
Originally slated to open in 2020
The store was initially set to open in 2020, as reported by Malay Mail.
Before their official opening, they set up official Facebook and Instagram accounts, where they teased their followers about the store’s opening. Several shoppers who frequent Lot 10 also shared photos of the store’s unopened doors, much to the excitement of others online as well.Â

Lot 10’s official Instagram page also previously released a cryptic hint of the store’s opening date in the form of a “reward” for finding Donpen – Don Don Donki’s lovable penguin mascot on 7th March 2021, 2 days before its official opening date as announced. Â

Before the official opening of JONETZ by Don Don Donki in Lot 10, we did some research and came across a similarly named Jonetz Market in Hong Kong that has a yatai concept – small food stalls selling street food in Japan, similar to stalls we would find in pasar malams.
But it has since been made clear that the JONETZ in the store’s name is named after the store’s house brand, Jonetsu Kakaku, meaning “passionate price” to refer to the affordability of the items here.

Jonetz may not be the only Don Don Donki outlet in Malaysia
JONETZ by Don Don Donki in Lot 10 may not be the brand’s only store in Malaysia. Tropicana Gardens Mall also teased an outlet opening in the mall back in August 2020 on their Facebook page, that said that the Japanese retail chain has a store opening soon in the mall in 2021. However, there has been no updates from the mall regarding the outlet’s opening to date.Â

Jonetz by Don Don Donki opening on Friday, 19th March
Lot 10 is a well-known hub for anyone who can’t get enough of Japanese culture, with retailers and eateries located in Isetan and The Table in the shopping mall a testament to that. Come 19th March, shoppers will get to add another store from Japan to their list – JONETZ by Don Don Donki.
