Bookworms were no doubt sad to hear that the iconic MPH Bookstores branch at Mid Valley Megamall would be shutting their doors after 25 years. This follows after a handful of other branches closed due to the pandemic – they currently operate 10 stores, compared to 30 before the MCOs.
But the bookworm-beloved bookstore is back – and better than ever.
MPH Bookstores just opened their flagship store at The Exchange TRX. The aesthetically pleasing branch spans over 20,000sqft, with stylish aisles of books and a kid’s corner with reading nooks.
Flagship MPH Bookstores outlet in Malaysia
MPH Bookstores prides itself on being the first book retailer to introduce a megastore concept in Malaysia, with the launch of MPH Mid Valley back in 1999. Though now closed, we can continue to take our book shopping to the new and upgraded MPH Bookstores at The Exchange TRX.
Launched on 16th May, the newest MPH Bookstores branch is perhaps the most modern yet. Neutral colours set the tone here, offering bibliophiles that much-needed zen atmosphere to sniff out new book titles.
There are large windows at the store that allow natural light to flood the space – look up, and you’ll see an eye-catching finishing on the ceiling that seems to glow and brighten the space.
A kid’s corner & zones for stationery & crafts

Stacked and neatly-arranged on shelves and countertops are a wide variety of books in Malay, English, and Chinese. The genres available are vast too, including Philosophy, Young Adult, Fantasy, Humour, and Self-Help – it’ll be nearly impossible to leave without picking up a book.
The new MPH Bookstores also has their well-loved dedicated kid’s corner here. Besides the galore of reading materials offered for kiddos on the shelves, the space features comfy reading nooks for them to spend time flipping through books.
Those looking for the essentials can find journals, notebooks, and writing instruments at the Stationery section, and colouring materials and more at the Arts & Crafts zone. Hobbyists can also sift through board games and LEGO box sets here.
