A Chef’s Confession immersive murder mystery dinner in KL
Murder mystery fans who reckon they could crack a case before the detective does can finally put their sleuthing skills to the test. A Chef’s Confession, an interactive murder mystery dinner previously staged in Melaka, is bringing its 1930s Malaya whodunnit to KL this September.
At A Chef’s Confession, the dinner table is where the mystery begins. Expect a Peranakan feast and a cast of characters who may have more to hide than they let on. If you’re keen to be doing a little more than deciding what’s for dessert after a feast, read on for more details about the experience, including ticket sales and prices.
What is A Chef’s Confession murder mystery dinner?
A Chef’s Confession is an immersive and interactive murder mystery dining experience by Melaka-based Krate Creative Space. The production first ran at The Garden @ Heeren in Melaka in July and August 2026, before announcing that the experience will be making its way to Kuala Lumpur for a limited two-day run.

Set in 1930s Malaya, the story unfolds around the opening of a restaurant, where what should be a celebratory evening takes a sinister turn when a murder occurs. Rather than watching the mystery play out from the sidelines, diners are brought into a world of suspicious characters and buried secrets, with the culprit hiding somewhere among them.
The KL edition is a collaboration between Krate Creative Space and The Chow Kit – an Ormond Hotel, with the historic neighbourhood of Chow Kit serving as a fitting backdrop for the period setting.
What to expect at A Chef’s Confession murder mystery dinner in KL
Unlike a traditional theatre show where you sit back and watch the story unfold, A Chef’s Confession puts you right in the middle of the mystery, with different ways to get involved throughout.
Role-play, interrogate suspects & hunt for clues

For 2.5 hours, you’ll get to swap your dinner conversations for detective work as the murder mystery unfolds around you. Guests will have to keep an eye on suspicious characters, uncover hidden secrets, and hunt for clues that could point them towards the culprit.
The experience also gives you the chance to interrogate suspects, by listening to what each character has to say and deciding whether their stories add up. By piecing together the information you uncover throughout the evening, guests will eventually have to work out who they think is behind the murder.
And with each show limited to just 40 guests, you won’t be trying to crack the case from the back of a packed theatre. The smaller setting keeps you close to the characters and action as the mystery plays out around you.
Have a Peranakan feast before solving the murder

It wouldn’t be a murder mystery dining experience without a feast to go with all that detective work. A Chef’s Confession will serve guests a limited-time Peranakan feast at The Chow Kit Kitchen, tying the dining experience back to its 1930s Malaya setting.
The meal also won’t be separate from the theatrics. It sets the scene for the mystery before the evening takes a darker turn, so you’ll want to stay alert to what’s happening around you while you dine.
