New Movies To Catch On The Big Screen In Malaysia In 2025 For A Bumper Year At The Cinema

Upcoming new movies in 2025

We may never get a blockbuster year close to the summer of Barbenheimer, but the lineup of movies in 2025 in Malaysian cinemas is looking real promising. Standouts are still the universe-extenders and franchise sequels, in particular Paddington 3, Jurassic World 4, and another Avatar film – finally.

But there are a good amount of films with fresh stories and casts that the cinema has been lacking last year – there’s the award-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho’s adaptation of Mickey17 starring Robert Pattinson, the long-awaited live adaptation of Snow White, and of course, more Marvel movies featuring scenes that feel very, very close to home.

We’ll be thoroughly entertained this year. Read on for the movies in 2025 we’re definitely hyped to catch in Malaysian cinemas.

The first of the Marvel films on the big screen in 2025 will be Captain America: Brave New World. And a new world it is, for we’ll no longer be seeing the beloved Steven Rogers donning that star-and-stripe suit.

In his place, the trusty superhero formerly known as The Falcon Sam Wilson – played by Anthony Mackie – is taking on Cap’s mantle and shield to fight against Sidewinder and Thaddeus Ross as the not-so-friendly red hulk in the upcoming film. Needless to say, we can hardly wait.

Perhaps the most anticipated Marvel reboot – and the second one at that, after the 2016 reboot – The Fantastic Four: First Step sounds promising with the introduction of the new cast, most particularly Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards. The film has also been teased to be a retro-futuristic version that’s set in an alternate universe of the main MCU movies. All very intriguing indeed.
