Tentent in Genting Sempah
Given the recent hotter-than-usual weather in Malaysia, we can’t help but picture ourselves in countries with colder climates. For us Malaysians, there are spots in the country to escape to for some relief from the heat – Genting Highlands is a popular one. While its theme parks need no introduction, we found this barbecue spot on the hilltops that’s worth checking out – Tentent.
This new dining spot in Genting Sempah, located about a 15-minute drive from the popular Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, offers a unique dining experience that combines delectable cuisine with the serene beauty of nature.

Tentent comes fully alive at night. In the mornings, between 10am and 6pm, they operate as a cafe dishing up local, Indonesian, and Western food. But when dusk hits, the cafe gets lit up with brilliant fairy lights adorning its rooftop area, making it a striking sight against the mountainous backdrop.

The menu also changes, with hotpot and barbecue available for those looking to dine on these hearty options among the cool mountain mist.

The cafe itself is well-designed – open-bricked walls, rattan chairs, and concrete surfaces blend seamlessly with its natural green surroundings. The open-air seating area on the ground and top floors also allow diners to savour their meals amidst the refreshing mountain air. The breathtaking, serene views of the surrounding hills and forests will be a nice change from the glossy skyscrapers.

In addition to its regular dining service, the cafe also caters to special events and gatherings such as birthdays, romantic dinners for two, or surprise proposals. The staff will ensure that every occasion is memorable for you. They can also accommodate large groups, making it an ideal venue for a meal after you and your pals have explored Genting Highlands.
