1. Hutan Hutan

Hutan Hutan is an event that nature lovers won’t want to miss out on. The market takes place in the hutan, with vendor booths set amid trees. At the 2-day December event, over 50 vendors gather to sell food and handcrafted goods while local artists take the open mic stage to serenade the crowd.

With popular food spots such as Luna Patisserie, Neighbour Club by JWC, and The Baking Trip having pop-ups at Hutan Hutan’s December bazaar, you can expect to just chill in nature with a warm beverage and baked goods besides just shopping.

2. Big Bad Wolf Sale

It’s time to add more books to your TBR list – Big Bad Wolf Books Sale is returning to Klang Valley with up to 95% off a wide range of books. The massive book sale takes place at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre this month, running 24 hours so you won’t even need to rush to come by after your 9-5.
Doors to the event will open at 10am on 13th December.

3. Kenyalang Circus
1st December to 31st March 2025

Marvel at the splendour of colours at the Kenyalang Circus exhibition in Balai Seni Negara, which opens in Malaysia after showings in Paris and New York. A series of works – including woven posters and billboards – created with industrial loom machines by Malaysian artist Marcos Kueh are showcased. Visitors are invited to contemplate on profound themes like identity and Bornean cultures behind the colourful spectacle.

4. Oh Deer Festival 2024
20th to 22nd December

For 3 days in December, Kedai KL is decking the halls at MAHSA Avenue with Christmas decorations and hosting festive bazaars for their Oh Deer Festival 2024. While you shop for last-minute Christmas gifts, you can also catch outdoor movie screenings, live performances, and Christmas carolling.
Plan to bring along the whole fam to the festival, as there are kid-friendly workshops that’ll keep the kiddos entertained.

5. KL Art Book Fair
6th to 8th December

The annual KL Art Book Fair (KLABF) is back for its fourth edition. Over 110 local and international creatives from 13 countries will exhibit art books, zines, magazines, and more, with workshops, exhibitions, and sharing sessions held throughout the 3-day event this month too.

Some exhibitors to look out for are Hong Kong visual artist and designer Hung Man Po; Japanese comic artist and illustrator Yukihiro Tada; Korean illustrator and artist Robineggpie; and homegrown names like Humana, Nadhir Nor, and shuuhuahua.

6. Tokyo TDC exhibition

KLABF has also joined forces with Tokyo Type Director’s Club and Tokyo TDC Awards to bring Tokyo TDC to The Godown Arts Centre this December. Held alongside KLABF, the exhibition makes its mark in KL after stopping by Berlin, Hangzhou, and Beijing. A total of 84 creative graphic design works done by international designers are displayed.

7. The Kamen Rider 50 Years Exhibition

To all the Kamen Rider fans in Malaysia – The Kamen Rider 50 Years Exhibition is making its debut in Southeast Asia in KL this December, following its first showcase in Japan in 2022.
Fans of the celebrated franchise can look forward to viewing epic transformation belts and costumes of notable Kamen Riders like Showa and Heisei in the flesh, and gawking at life-sized replicas of the villains and monsters they face off. There’ll also be actual models of motorcycles that the Riders use in the show at the exhibition.

8. Christmas mall displays

If it’s a walking-in-a-winter-wonderland and O-Christmas-tree mood for you when December arrives, then a trip to a shopping mall in Klang Valley is a must. Popular spots like Suria KLCC and Pavilion KL have full-blown Christmas decor on display, with plenty of photo corners perfect as backdrops for your festive ‘fits.
If Christmas trees launches you straight into festive mood, The Exchange TRX has not one, but five, Christmas trees around the shopping mall that are themed around LEGO, Tiffany & Co., Wicked, and Louis Vuitton.

9. London Musical Show

The established Great British Circus is bringing a one-time production of London Musical Show to the open cark park in Desa ParkCity, next to Plaza Arkadia. The 2-hour show weaves gravity-defying circus acts and head-bopping musical tunes in the story of Jack and his journey to keep his dream of performing alive.

10. Christmas From The Heart – David Soh

There’s no better way to usher in Christmas than singing along to carols. On Christmas Eve, KL’s popular cocktail bar Jao Tim invites Malaysian singer-songwriter David Soh to serenade the crowd with contemporary Christmas songs and carols, merrily themed Christmas From The Heart.

11. Concerts in December
7th, 15th and 18th December

While Christmas carols fill the air in December, there are several concerts taking place in Malaysia this month for more nights spent bopping to tunes.
Fans can shoong-oong-oong along with Big Bang’s Taeyang as he performs at Axiata Arena on 7th December, and be serenaded with old-school hits by rock duo Air Supply at the Arena of Stars in Resorts World Genting on 15th December. Likewise, Korean artist DPR brings their tour to KL on 18th December, taking the stage at Mega Star Arena.

12. Kuro Market

PJ’s stylish Kuro Coffee is hosting its first KURO MARKET. The Japanese-inspired cafe has invited 14 local and regional artists and makers to its cafe space, including bakers Cocoon Pastry, potters A Touch of Clay, and Thai-based lifestyle brand copenn.

13. Culture Shock
18th November to 12th January 2025
Penang-based Cultprint has curated a list of talented creatives for the free-admission Culture Shock group exhibition. There are over 50 artworks from notable local and international artists featured, including Ernest Zacharevic, Cloakwork, Kenji Chai, and Times New Romance’s Sheena Liam.

14. Detective Conan

Put on your sleuthing hat, don a red bow tie, and head to Pavilion Bukit Jalil to check out the Detective Conan 30th Anniversary Exhibition, which makes its way to Malaysia after opening in Japan and Thailand.
Visitors can explore eight zones featuring original artworks, character standees, real-life props, and more from the beloved Japanese manga and anime. There’s also a merchandise store carrying character-themed goods.

15. Sips & Strangers

For an afternoon of handcrafted Italian food and desserts, LA RISATA in Damansara is hosting a Christmas edition of Sips & Strangers. Diners are invited to make new friends at the table over a feast of pizza, bread, pasta, and desserts, while festive tunes play in the background.

16. Quby Merryland

Quby has taken over Sanctuary Mall in Kota Kemuning for Quby Merryland, with massive inflatables of the beloved blob scattered around the mall – including one that’s dubbed the largest in Asia. Besides taking photos with the character, visitors can shop at a bazaar, win freebies, and try out an AR experience.

17. Board Games Night

18. The Exchange TRX New Year’s Eve Countdown Party

Countdown to the new year at The Exchange TRX, which is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve Countdown Party at their rooftop Raintree Plaza this December. There’ll be live performances, laser projections, a food village, interactive installations, and, of course, the highlight fireworks display.
