Things to do in Malaysia this weekend
The weekend is creeping up once again, which means it is time to figure what to do with those 48 hours. Thankfully, the Klang Valley has plenty happening from 12th to 13th September 2026, exploring a market, joining an after-hours gathering, or watching a Pokémon drone show light up the sky.

1. Pokémon Drone Show

Pokémon is celebrating its 30th anniversary with Malaysia’s first Pokémon-themed drone show at KLCC Park. The display will bring giant Pokémon formations to the sky against the backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers.
Two shows will take place each night at 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Entry is free and no tickets are required, making it an easy stop for fans spending the weekend around KLCC.

2. Hari Terbuka Parlimen Malaysia 2026

The Malaysian Parliament complex will open its doors to the public for Hari Terbuka Parlimen Malaysia 2026, held in conjunction with Parliament’s 67th anniversary and Bulan Kebangsaan. Entry is free throughout the two-day event.
Visitors can explore interactive exhibitions by more than 40 ministries and government agencies, as well as learn more about Parliament through guided visits. Other activities include free health screenings, e-sports and virtual reality experiences and Agro MADANI sales.

3. Miniature Workshop: Paper Shophouses

Mini Show Gallery is hosting its first Miniature Workshop, where participants can design and assemble a paper shophouse inspired by Malaysia’s local architecture. Each person can personalise the building’s exterior with their own colours, signs and decorative details.
Completed shophouses may also be displayed at Mini Show Gallery after the workshop, subject to available space. The session costs RM15 and is limited to 10 participants, with an RM5 deposit required to secure a place. Visitors can book a slot by sending a direct message to Mini Show Gallery’s official Instagram.

4. Monthly Makan-Makan: Bazaar & Banter

Monthly Makan-Makan: Bazaar & Banter is returning to Liku-Likoo with a laid-back evening of food, board games and creative activities. Visitors can have their cards read by tarot readers Goddess Sanya and Jenn, There will also be live hand-drawn portraits by Yokuraii, a Safe Space Expression Workshop by Tehnang, as well as creative vendors to browse throughout the night.
Those celebrating their birthdays in September can also claim a complimentary slice of mooncake.

5. Randy’s Laundromat Wellness Weekend

Randy’s Laundromat is combining exercise with laundry day during its first Wellness Weekend. Visitors can attend a workout session while their clothes are being washed, allowing them to complete two weekend tasks in one trip.
Saturday’s programme features Sunrise Flow yoga led by Fatin, who has taught yoga since 2022. On Sunday, FONV Pole founders Debby and Apple will conduct mat Pilates sessions. Participants will also receive kombucha from local beverage brand Allways after their workout.

6. Kopitiam Conversations

Kopitiam Conversations is a community event centred on topics that Malaysians may find difficult to discuss openly, including emotions, personal pressure and asking for help.
The session includes a free mental health screening and guided conversations designed to encourage connection and self-reflection. Participants will also receive complimentary coffee and a small takeaway gift, with a mystery prize available through a lucky draw. Participants can register for free here.

7. Women in Futsal

Inspired by the women, in Gol & Gincu, Women in Futsal is designed for women experienced before. The session begins with a Futsal 101 introduction covering the basic rules, player positions and how the game works.
Participants will then practise passing, ball control, dribbling and shooting before joining before before joining friendly matches and a final challenge. The two-hour programme will conclude with a Player of the Day announcement, a Cococlo lucky draw and group group everyone. Participation costs RM30 and visitors can register online here.

8. IMMERSIO 2026: PASAR

First launched in 2017, IMMERSIO is a new media art festival that gives artists and creative technologists a platform to experiment with digital forms. Its 2026 edition, PASAR, reimagines the familiar sights, sounds and rituals of Southeast Asian markets through more than 70 artworks by over 100 creatives from across Asia.
Around 45 works will be displayed at the main exhibition in GMBB. Visitors can explore interactive installations, projections, sculptures and performances, including a playable video game inspired by Indonesia’s batu akik gemstone trade.
Other works feature fish-headed vendors drawn from memories of Singapore’s disappearing wet markets and an artistic interpretation of Malaysia’s familiar ikat tepi drink packaging.
Additional programmes will be held at Muzium Telekom, including student works from MMU, UNIMAS and The One Academy. REXKL will host artist-sharing sessions and performances during the festival’s final weekend from 25th to 27th September 2026.
General admission to the main exhibition costs RM15, while senior citizens, persons with disabilities and children under 12 can enter for free. Visitors can purchase tickets online here.

9. Book Club After Hours

Book Club After Hours is a women-only reading social where visitors can spend part of the evening reading mingling with other book lovers. Unlike a conventional book club, there is no assigned title or group discussion to prepare for.
Visitors can bring their current read or choose from a small selection provided at the event. Conversation cards will also be available during the social portion for anyone who needs help breaking the ice. Each ticket includes an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage, along with 15% at Star Cafe.

10. Game Night at The Coffee

The Coffee at JAM PJ is hosting a casual Game Night for experienced players and complete beginners alike. The RM20 entry fee includes full access to the café’s board game collection and a complimentary cup of coffee.
Staff will be available to explain unfamiliar games, so visitors do not need to arrive knowing how to play. The evening will also feature social games and group activities designed to help attendees meet other players.
