The Très Hotel in Kuala Lumpur
It wasn’t too long ago when we were angling our cameras and filtering our shots to hop on the Wes Anderson trend on Instagram. We found a new spot that’ll require a little less effort to nail photos with the legendary filmmaker’s beloved aesthetics – The Très Hotel, which is slated to open at the end of November 2024.
While The Grand Budapest Hotel is fictional, the new boutique hotel in Kuala Lumpur achieves picture-ready symmetries and candied hues reminiscent of it. You’ll feel like a main character from a Wes Anderson film, whether you’re spending a night in a ’60s-style room or sipping on coffee at their now soft-launched cafe lounge.
All you need to know about The Très Hotel
The Très Hotel has yet to announce an official opening date, but photos of the micro-boutique hotel’s aesthetically pleasing spaces have already been floating around online.
No surprises here. With an eye-catching pink facade with green and yellow accents, and Wes Anderson-inspired interiors past its yellow doors, the hotel certainly stands apart from the surrounding monochrome buildings.
The 3-star hotel can be found in Taman Seputeh, just a 5-minute drive from KL landmark areas in the city such as Mid Valley City and Brickfields. It occupies a charming building that previously housed the decades-old Ray Parc Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and is owned by a local hotelier who also runs Penang’s Very Hotel.

The Très Hotel has creatively spruced up a quintessential classic Malaysian hotel building, from the outside to the inside, with a retro design. Past its picture-ready lobby, the quaint aesthetics seep subtly into its 86 rooms and suites.

Each room is minimally, yet tastefully, decorated. Just a few quirky lamps, sconces, an old-timey desk, and upbeat bed backsplashes and headboards decorate the room. But they come together to recreate the vibes of a Wes Anderson film.

Beyond the aesthetics, you’ll find the rooms well-equipped with amenities such as toiletries, fridge, TV, and a minibar for a comfortable night’s stay.
In the Moonrise and Rushmore suites, titled after iconic Wes Anderson films, you’ll find an extra pampering treat – a bathtub placed prominently next to the plush bed, away from the bathroom.
The price range for a night’s stay here is RM150-800, from their standard and deluxe rooms to their two suite options.
A cafe lounge for cups of coffee
Over at the hotel’s cafe lounge, which is now serving hotel and non-hotel guests, you’ll find an equally charming and retro space. There are no official opening hours for it just yet, but it’ll be safe to come around check-in and check-out hours.
The lounge, just next to the reception area, features plush seating arrangements in forest greens and burnt oranges against a wall. A charming Coffee Bar to a side where a curated menu of cakes and coffees are carefully plated for guests, and a record player in a corner spinning classical tunes, will form the backdrop for your meals.
As for food and drinks, there are caffeine-based drinks like Latte (RM13) and non-caffeinated ones such as Chocolate (RM14) and Earl Grey Tea (RM9). A small selection of cakes, including Lemon Poppy Cake and Nutella Crepe, are gently sweet and perfect accompaniments to the warm drinks.
Spend a night in a Wes Anderson-inspired hotel in KL
With the year-end holidays quietly creeping up on us, there’s no better time than now to plan a staycation or vacation. With its close proximity to the city, yet away from the hustle and bustle in Taman Seputeh, The Très Hotel will check all the boxes for a peaceful and picture-ready retreat.
