KL East Mall officially opens
We Malaysians love our malls. With the never-ending tropical heat and rain out there, it makes sense that malls are a much-welcomed respite for people of all ages. You get to walk at your own pace and enjoy the air-con, grab a bite from a huge variety of eateries, window-shop for all kinds of goods, plus these spaces are generally safe for kids to run around in.
It’s no wonder that new malls pop up frequently in the city, and the latest one to join the list is none other than KL East Mall, located near Taman Melawati.

KL East Mall is not your regular run-of-the-mill neighbourhood mall where you drop by, grab what you need, and go, as it’s clearly designed with entertainment, sports, and leisure in mind.
You can look forward to spending a full day in the mall with their many entertainment offerings. These include an ice skating rink that’s big enough for figure skating classes and ice hockey tournaments to take place.
There are only fewer than 5 skating rinks in the whole of Klang Valley at the moment, and with most of them located in Selangor, KL peeps will finally get to visit a skating rink that’s much closer to their homes.

Those who are afraid of slipping on ice can instead go for rock climbing or bouldering at Camp5 for a challenging but fun workout sesh.
Or if you prefer a more inclusive leisure activity fit for the whole fam, there’s always the good, old MBO Cinemas for everybody to catch the latest films together – hopefully soon when the pandemic situation stabilises.

KL East Mall will also house familiar commercial brands such as H&M, Harvey Norman, Jaya Grocer, BookXcess, Machines, Decathlon, A&W, Sushi Zanmai, Absolute Thai, and many more, alongside artisanal and indie names. Dessert and coffee lovers can drop by Gula Cakery and Whisk, both serving freshly baked premium cakes and coffee for a midday pick-me-up.
