Angry Birds Activity Park In JB To Close Its Doors On 5th April After 6 Years Of Operation

Angry Birds Activity Park to close on 5th April

Things have been looking up in Malaysia after round 2 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) was lifted in all states, with more businesses now allowed to reopen. But even so, the losses suffered from the pandemic have been hard to bounce back from, with many businesses having to shut their doors. The latest one that’s bidding farewell to its loyal customers after years of operation is Angry Birds Activity Park, a popular activity theme park in JB.

Permanent closure after 6 years in operation

The announcement was made on Angry Birds Activity Park’s official Facebook page today, 16th March 2021. After 6 years of operation in Komtar JBCC, a bustling shopping centre in JB, the theme park shared with their followers that they’ll be closing their doors permanently come 5th April 2021.

The theme park is well-known to those living there and out-of-towners as a family-friendly attraction in JB. It has 5 zones, 20 attractions, a lounge and photo spots all themed around Angry Birds – a mobile game that became a smash hit and got its own movie franchise.

Offering up fun for the whole family, each theme park ticket purchased also came with free Angry Bird-themed socks that patrons could take home with them.

No reason has been given as to why the activity park will be closing their doors, only that they will be permanently closing in just over 2 weeks. The theme park has remained closed for the duration of MCO 2.0, and just recently reopened on 6th March, as stated in another Facebook post.

Netizens bid farewell to activity park

As Angry Birds Activity Park is well-known among those with little ones who often drop by the theme park for a family-friendly, fun-filled day, many patrons gathered in the comments section of the Facebook post announcement to share their fond memories of the place.

Netizen Muhammad Anis Fakhri commented, “So sad! My family from Penang really loves this place. Hope [it] can reopen.” He also included a photo together with his comment.

Angry Birds Activity Park to close on 5th April

It’s always hard to see places that we frequent close down, especially spots where we’d spent fun times bonding with our friends or families. So we are sad to hear news of Angry Birds Activity Park closing their doors come 5th April, and hope that we’ll get to revisit their well-loved theme park again in the future, should they have a chance to reopen. In the meantime, those living in JB might want to visit the theme park one last time before they close permanently.
