KL International Book Fair opens till 7th June
If you’re looking for something to do over the school holidays or the major long weekend ahead, head over to the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF). The annual literary event runs from 29th May to 7th June 2026 at the World Trade Centre KL, with a slew of books, workshops, and more.
What is KL International Book Fair?

First held in 1981, the annual literary event is organised by the National Book Council of Malaysia under the Ministry of Education, taking place each year in May or June. KLIBF celebrates multilingual reading by showcasing titles in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil, and Arabic
The 10-day event, which is free entry, offers a rich programme of seminars, author meet-and-greets, book launches, storytelling sessions, and cultural performances beyond its vast collection of books.

KLIBF is a great place to discover local authors and publishers, with plenty of Malay and English titles on offer, plus popular international works translated into Malay.
And if you’re on a budget, you can still go on a shopping spree as hundreds of local and international publishers will be offering steep discounts across a wide range of genres, from academic and religious texts to fiction, non-fiction, and even comic books.

Bookworms can look forward to browsing shelves from over 1,000 booths, including homegrown publishers such as Gerakbudaya, Gempak Starz, and Bookiut. This year’s standout highlight event is award-winning Malaysian author Hanna Alkaf, who will be debuting her latest novel, The Warung Between Worlds, at the fair.

And the book fair is not just for adults, the fair also has a children’s literature festival packed with fun activities like colouring and drawing competitions, perfect for getting kids off their screens and getting them to read.
