Malaysian pitbull rescuer shares her experience of rescuing a pitbull
Dogs are known for being smart and loyal animals, such as this doggo who queued up to ‘buy’ nasi lemak and this brave boi who died from a poisonous snake bite while protecting his owners.
Unfortunately, some dogs such as pitbulls are often a misunderstood breed, frequently painted as aggressive and fierce dogs who attack people unprovoked. After a pitbull attack was recently reported in the news, involving a woman who was left severely injured in Melaka, the conundrum on who’s to blame – dog or owner – continues on.Â
Animal lovers are quick to defend their furry companions, but also stress the importance of being a responsible dog owner. A particular post shared by a pet boarding service company’s representative on its Facebook page shed light on the true nature of pitbulls, and how training them well can turn them into lovable pets.

The post recounts the story of the writer who rescued a pitbull named Daisy some time ago. The Malaysian pitbull rescuer believes Daisy was abandoned, because the pitbull had been in a debilitating condition with skin issues and an abnormal ear canal growth when she was found.
The writer nursed Daisy back to health through surgery, medication, fresh home-cooked food, and lots of love. This led to Daisy transforming from a fearful dog to a friendly, playful pet who loves both people and other dogs.
Today, Daisy has fortunately been adopted by another loving owner who shared a photo of Daisy developing a close and gentle relationship with a newly adopted kitten.
The writer also noted that Daisy wasn’t the only friendly pitbull the pet boarding service has taken care of, as the staff find their clients’ pitbulls to be equally good-natured and goofy.
It boils down to being a responsible dog ownerÂ

Dogs are lifetime companions, not an accessory, or a temporary pet that irresponsible owners tend to abandon if they find them difficult to handle.Â
As the writer mentioned in her post in relation to the pitbull attack in Melaka, dogs who are not properly trained by humans are more likely to behave aggressively because they are wired to defend their territory. And if dogs of any breed are trained to guard, all of them will naturally attack when they perceive a threat, not just pitbulls.
In fact, netizen Sharmela Sharmela commented that she’s also encountered a super obedient pitbull who was well-trained by its owner.Â

Similar to having a child, dog ownership isn’t for those who aren’t prepared to understand canine behavior and to socialise their pet properly. Like human babies, animals too require a lot of time, money, attention, and effort.Â
And when something bad happens, we should understand that no animal has malicious intent, so it wouldn’t be logical to hate on them for merely being an animal and behaving like one.Â
