Whether you’re a lover of the arts or simply enjoy looking at colourful pictures, checking out a gallery or museum is likely to be part of your weekend plans. Thankfully for those in KL, there are plenty of them to discover here. This time around, look no further than Telur Pecah 3.0, the latest addition to KL’s art scene.

Tucked within GMBB, this free art exhibition features over 600 artworks made from papier-mâché and other unique materials – all of them crafted by our very own local artists.

Located on Level 3A at GMBB, the third edition of the Telur Pecah contemporary art exhibition will open to curious souls in KL till 12th November 2023.

The free-entry art exhibition aims to promote independent artists in Malaysia, with 105 artists from across the country showcasing their works here. Spanning five distinct art genres, this exhibition delves into the thoughts and perspectives of the artists.

Expect to encounter over 600 pieces here, ranging from papier-mâché creations to cyanotype installations.

This year’s exhibition also includes a partnership with a local contemporary art gallery called Core Design Gallery, bringing with it a dedicated section featuring artworks from the gallery’s renowned artists.

A highlight here is the guest artist installation titled “I Am Just A Girl” by Danielle L. Shannon. This artwork, featuring a mannequin adorned with a skirt featuring a whimsical mix of stuffed toys, delves into the artist’s personal journey and challenges faced in the art world as a woman.

Next up, visitors can explore solo exhibits by six accomplished artists. Take a stroll through the exhibits and revel at the bold strokes of palette knives and charming calligraphy from artists such as Yap Poh Sim and Teh Chun Ang. Other artists to look out for here are Alice Yee, Jakob Van Klang, Lim Bo Qiang, and Vasanthi Naidu.


An interactive installation & workshops


After feasting your eyes on the creative works of the artists, you can head to an interactive installation where artwork sheets and crayons are placed out on a low table – here, you try your hand at creating your very own art piece.

There are also weekend workshops hosted at this exhibition to further unleash your inner artist, including a Glue Art (RM50) and Palette Knife Painting (RM50) workshop.
