Bandit, a cafe in SS2, Petaling Jaya
There are plenty of good cafes located in SS2, Petaling Jaya. Bandit, which specialises in shokupan – or traditional Japanese milk bread – is a new addition to the neighbourhood that opened their doors recently.
This racoon-themed cafe offers a diverse menu of all-day breakfast to Asian fusion mains, in addition to their pastries and speciality bread. There’s also a pet-friendly dining area here, so those with furkids can drop by for brunch without having to leave them at home.

Bandit’s mascot is a racoon – this is why you’ll find illustrations of racoons, also known as bandits for their ‘masked’ appearance, in almost every corner of the cafe to accompany you while you enjoy their speciality coffee, baked goods, and hearty brunch plates.
The cafe’s unique, themed decor elements – think racoon motifs and pastry-shaped door handles – will appeal to cafegoers who are drawn to all things quirky. All these are set against the backdrop of vintage wooden furnishings reminiscent of Parisian bistros.

Find outdoor seatings for patrons who want to bring their furbabies to their coffee sessions.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, Bandit is limiting dining sessions for patrons to only 1 hour and 30 minutes on weekends and public holidays – but this is ample time for you to dine on their food offerings.
Assorted shokupan and Asian-fusion brunch menu
While Bandit’s charming environment alone has been attracting patrons, their speciality milk bread and brunch specials are worth a mention too.

The pièce de résistance here are shokupan, or flavoured Japanese milk bread slices, such as the Sweet Potato Shokupan (RM4/slice) and Black Sesame Shokupan (RM4/slice). These shokupan are handcrafted with premium Japanese flour and French butter, and contains no preservatives.
We recommend bringing back a loaf of their freshly baked shokupan if you enjoy homemade bread for breakfast or tea time.

Alongside their baked goods, this cafe serves all-day breakfast for those who prefer a heartier brunch, such as French Toast (RM26) – slightly toasted shokupan with creamy egg-custard on the inside – or Otak-Otak Scrambler (RM26), the cafe’s fusion take on flaky, buttery croissant that oozes with spicy fish custard.

For coffee connoisseurs, try their barista-recommended Coffee Tiramisu (RM15) – a layered drink made to taste just like a slice of Tiramisu dessert, with each sip revealing a new dimension of flavour and texture.

If you feel like stepping out of your comfort zone, their Chrysanthemum Red Dates Cold Brew (RM14) combines the taste of slightly sweet chrysanthemum and a hint of caramel from the red dates with a smooth, less acidic version of coffee.
Or order their Pineapple Passion Cold Brew (RM13) for coffee with a fruity punch.
