After a three-year hiatus, POPULAR’s BookFest is set to take place between 3rd-11th June at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This year’s theme, Reunite And Excite, invites visitors of all ages to explore the joy of reading. 

Whether you’re a gadget head or a bibliophile, there’s something for everyone at year’s BookFest – which happens to be Malaysia’s largest trilingual book exposition. The event will be hosted in a massive 100,000 square-foot space, where you can browse books, stationery, and more at a discounted price.

There will be a total of five halls featuring exhibitors from countries such as Hong Kong and Canada. Hall 1, for starters, will feature Chinese-language reading materials, CDs, and DVDs, while Hall 2 has collectible figurines, games, anime merchandise, and DVDs with up to 25% off.

Meanwhile, Hall 4 is where you’ll find stationery supplies and tech gadgets from as low as RM1.70 from 3rd till 5th June. Head on over to Hall 5 to browse through a slew of English, Malay, and Chinese books with 20% off all titles.

Other exciting deals you can look forward to at this year’s BookFest include Weekday Specials, between 6th to 9th June, with 350 products, including books, gadgets, and stationery, with up to 80% discounts.

A plethora of competitions and workshops for children

Besides discovering an array of books from various genres, the little ones can also join fun activities such as author-sharing sessions with renowned Chinese authors such as Fong Yee Leong and Cheryl Lee.

The kiddos can also participate in the Children’s Colouring Competition, where winners will be taking home prizes sponsored by Faber-Castell worth over RM10,000. Other competitions to look forward to are the Anime and Comic Cosplay Competition and the Primary School Choir Competition.

There will also be exciting workshops for children to join over the course of the nine-day event, such as art and craft workshops where they’ll get to try their hand at making creative bookmarks and Father’s Day cards. Additionally, well-known chefs such as Chef Ivan and Michelle Teoh will host cooking demos for foodies or aspiring chefs.

To attend this event, you will need to purchase a ticket on BookFest’s official website, which costs RM20/pax and includes a RM20 book voucher.
