Her House in Petaling Street
Changkat Bukit Bintang may be the go-to spot for a nightcap in Kuala Lumpur, thanks to the overwhelming presence of bars there. But there are a collection of trendy bars taking over the floors of time-worn buildings in the Petaling Street area too – like Her House.
This not-so-secret “secret” bar in a shophouse has a public display sign on the ground floor. But to enter their hip neon-lit space, you’ll have to make your way up flights of stairs, past old-school barber and denture shops, before locating their doors in a room of neon infinity mirrors.
A hidden bar in a century-old shophouse

This bar is situated along Jalan Sultan, among kopitiams and optometrists. It’s not hard to locate their sign and the set of mosaic tile steps leading up to the century-old building, which they occupy a space in.
But here’s where things might get tricky.

After you’ve made your way past the varied collection of shops in the building – a barber, mole removal specialist, and dental clinic included – you’ll have to find a black grill door lined with neon strip lights. Push your way past the doors, and you’ll be greeted by neon infinity mirrors.
The entrance to the bar is hidden in the mirrors. We won’t spoil it too much for you, as part of the fun is locating the bar’s entrance. Take as much time as you want to find the glass doors, as patrons often stop here to take Insta-worthy mirror selfies before entering Her House.

Once you’ve figured out where the entrance is, you’ll be greeted by a charming and cosy bar decorated with art murals and ambience neon lights – a far cry from their former tenant, a mahjong cafe.

Specially curated cocktails whipped up by friendly bartenders

The bar has become a popular spot for drinks in the area, with friendly bartenders whipping up a list of specially curated cocktails that are equally as aesthetic as the ambience. Feel free to ask them for recommendations, as they’ll be happy to give you suggestions based on your taste preference.
Indulge on the house’s signature cocktail such as the Most Wanted (RM47), a concoction of cognac, honey, sherry, as well as fresh orange and lemon juice. The addition of pork soaked in baijiu makes for a perfect selection for a slightly sweet flavour with a citrusy finish.

Another signature cocktail is the Envy Me (RM48), consisting of osmanthus vermouth bianco, a mixture of sake junmai, white grape syrup, lemon juice, and soda. This spirit, served in a traditional Japanese tokkuri cup, adds to the visual representation of the rosy looking cocktail.

Meanwhile, the Green Curtain (RM48) – with gin, matcha, and calpis – is a unique combination with a refreshing finish that’s sure to impress gin lovers.
From Sundays to Thursdays, Her House is serving their Cocktail Platter (RM128++), comprising four cocktails and childhood snacks like ice gems and dried fish.
