If You Have A Koyak IKEA Frakta Bag, Here’s How You Can Exchange It For Free

Free exchange for IKEA Frakta bags

Most Malaysians are familiar with IKEA’s iconic blue reusable bag, formally called the FRAKTA. It’s safe to say that most local households have at least several of these heavy-duty bags at home that nicely hold our groceries, laundry, hardware tools, packed food from home – basically everything but the kitchen sink.

With how trusty and reliable the bag is, it is bound to get damaged at some point after the many uses it’s put through. Well, the good news is that the bag has a free lifetime exchange policy – in other words, when it is koyak, you can head to an IKEA Malaysia location to have it replaced for free.

You can visit any IKEA store in Malaysia and head to the Exchange & Returns counters, which are located near the check-out aisle in the store, typically near the Swedish Bistro. The counters will be accessible without you having to go through the maze-like store layout.

Here is a list of all IKEA stores in Malaysia that accept replacements:

  • IKEA Damansara, Selangor
  • IKEA Cheras, KL
  • IKEA Tebrau, Johor
  • IKEA Batu Kawan, Penang

How do I exchange my bag?

At the Exchange & Returns area, you can take a queue number and wait to be called. Once you’re called up to be assisted, present your torn or damaged FRAKTA bag to the staff. They’ll access it and swap it with a new one on the spot, completely free of charge.

It won’t matter if you purchased the bag 2 months or 2 years ago. As long as it has visible damage, you can exchange it for a new one.

The whole process is straightforward, with no transactions and receipts involved. Expect to be out with a new bag in under 5 minutes.

Where can I get a Frakta bag?

If you don’t have a FRAKTA bag yet, or plan to grow your collection of durable bags, you can easily get one from a vending machine. The FRAKTA vending machine is only located at the Damansara branch and sits right by the main entrance. The machine carries small, medium and large sizes of the bags.

But if you missed it or the outlet you’re visiting does not have the vending machine, you can still find the bags in bins near the cashier.
