Karaoke Manekineko: Family-friendly Karaoke Chain In M’sia With Free-flow Drinks & Japanese Street Food

There are some of us who are better at singing than others. But one thing’s for sure – we’ll likely break into song when our favourite tracks are blasted on the speakers. 

For passionate singers in the Klang Valley, take your singing sessions to Karaoke Manekineko. This karaoke chain from Japan has family-friendly karaoke rooms for you to sing along to your fave songs from RM15/pax for two hours, with free-flow drinks provided and Japanese food to order when you feel peckish.

Karaoke Manekineko has over 500 outlets in Japan. In Malaysia, there are five outlets located in the Klang Valley – including one at Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya which we visited.    

Each outlet in Malaysia is home to different cat-themed karaoke rooms. But rest assured, all their karaoke rooms are comfortable and suitable for singing seshs with your fam or friends.

You’ll be given a Karaoke Starter Kit comprising a packet of chips, and a disposable mic cover and plastic mic shield for your mic, with each karaoke session here.

A cup for free-flow drinks will also be provided in the kit so you can drop by their Drink Bar when you’re feeling thirsty. There are 15 different beverage options to find here, which includes classics of Milo and Nescafe, to fizzy Coca Cola and refreshing Iced Lemon Tea.

Prices for a karaoke session here starts from RM15/pax for two hours in a private room from Mondays to Thursdays, and RM20/pax for two hours from Fridays to Sundays. If you have little ones, you’ll be glad to know that kids below 90cm will be allowed to enter for free, no matter the day.

To keep their patrons safe during the pandemic, Karaoke Manekineko regularly sanitises their karaoke rooms before and after each visit. Along with disposable mic covers and shields, all their karaoke mics are also sanitised with UV lights after each use too.

Everyone can join in on the fun and sing to their heart’s delight here, with five different karaoke rooms for families or groups to check out – Standard, Family, VIP, Grand, and Signature.

Each karaoke room is equipped with a projector, and plenty of song options in eight different languages – including English, Malay, Chinese, Korean, and Thai.

So come prepared to jam to popular radio hits from The Chainsmokers and K-pop group BTS, to classic Mandopop tunes from Jay Chou and Malay ballads from Siti Nurhaliza.

Family Room

Large groups can consider their Grand Room – a private karaoke room that hosts up to 30 people. It has a widescreen projector that runs along the wall and loops animated backdrops. 

The Family Room accommodates up to seven people, and is highly recommended for families as it is equipped with a cosy ball pit. Otherwise, the Standard Room is a popular room for cosy karaoke gatherings, as it fits up to four individuals.

Food to order when you’re feeling peckish

All that singing can work up an appetite – which is why Karaoke Manekineko has a menu of Japanese and Western dishes that you can order straight to their private karaoke rooms.

While we were here, we tried the Takoyaki Pyramid (RM24.90), which is great for groups. The popular Japanese street food made up of fried doughy balls, and topped with mayonnaise, Takoyaki sauce, and bonito flake shavings, has portions that comfortably feeds up to three in a group.

We also tried their heartier menu items, such as their Katsu Curry Rice (RM22.80+), with crispy pork chop in fragrant curry, and Chicken Soup Ramen (RM18.80+) with thin slices of smoked duck. We recommend these dishes for hungry patrons due to their larger portions.
