The drought that fans of K-pop boy groups feel when a member enlists in mandatory military in South Korea can be all too real. But luckily for us, there are fan gatherings at cafes and merch to be bought to keep us occupied until they are discharged.

For BtoB Melodies in Malaysia who miss the group’s leader, Seo Eunkwang – he enlisted in August 2018 – you can now check out his Korean dessert cafe, PlusEightTwo, opened today (Dec 27) at Sunway GEO Avenue in Subang Jaya.

For one week, the cafe will be in the soft launch phase, where it will only carry a selection of dishes to gauge the public’s response. After this, the full menu will launch and you can look forward to cupsleeve events for K-pop groups being held there as well.

There are also black-and-white minimalist tote bags (~RM107) and T-shirts (~RM122) on sale here. Designed with the cafe’s name printed on them, these chic-looking merch are perfect for fans who want to show their support for Eunkwang’s foodie venture with his brother and friends.

There is a variety of coffee, tea, and cold drinks available here as well. Cafe Latte (RM12) is a classic coffee-milk combo. Sweeten things up with the Caramel Latte (RM14), or opt for Korean drinks, such as Dalgona (RM15) – which is topped with bits of a classic Korean sugar candy for a nice, crunchy bite – and Yuzu (RM12), a sweet, citrusy thirst-quencher.

Cafes and restaurants in NU Sentral and Sunway Velocity have been hotspots for cupsleeve events in KL – which are fan-organised events to celebrate a K-pop group member’s birthday or anniversary. You can expect to see these events here at PlusEightTwo as well in the near future, as its Singapore counterpart has hosted its share of them.

If you want to organise an event like this, the cafe has an event form online for you to book its space for cupsleeve events for a maximum of 2 days. Cleaning and maintenance fees (RM100) are now temporarily free, so if you would like to celebrate Eunkwang or another K-pop group member’s birthday or anniversary, now is the time to get on PlusEightTwo’s event list.
