‘One-day boyfriend experience’ on Shopee
More Malaysians are turning to online shopping to limit their outdoor excursions during the pandemic. Anyone who has done so on popular shopping platforms can attest to finding pretty much anything online too. But something that many have yet to see listed is a ‘boyfriend experience’ – which a netizen happened to stumble across while on Shopee.
The novelty listing, which promises a ‘One-day Boyfriend Experience’, offers customers the chance to interact with a young man at different prices. For RM20, customers can receive voice messages and send in song requests for their 24-hour companion to play on the piano – which has allegedly garnered positive feedback from satisfied customers.
24-hour companion service listed on Shopee
On 3rd August 2021, netizen 古曼釹 took to Facebook to share photos of the listing, which showed three images of the same young man as the product image.
Unlike most product listings on Shopee, the store h.y.studio99 offers up an experience that aims to make friends, not earn money, during the Movement Control Order (MCO). As such, individuals feeling lonely and looking for a companion – or temporary ‘boyfriend’ – to have a chat with can choose from three affordable services they offer with zero shipping costs.

These services include text message or voice message interactions with a man – presumably the one in the photo – with prices starting from RM12. Privacy is guaranteed too, with all forms of messages kept confidential and family-friendly.
The most pricey service, at RM20, is voice message interaction, plus an added service. Customers can put in piano song requests that their new companion will play on the instrument for them.

To let customers know more about their companion for the day before they hit checkout, the listing gives more information about the young man’s interests in the product description box.
He’s apparently intelligent, has 8th grade qualifications in piano, and can draw simple line portraits. Ensuring that there won’t be awkward silence in every purchase, he claims to be a “professional” at holding conversations too. He also knows over 1,000 cheesy jokes so he can bring on the laughter during the exchanges, and can alternate between being manly and gentle.
For extra curious buyers, there’s also information on his relationship status, height, weight and physique.

The Shopee listing has since been taken down. But while it was up, it guaranteed 100% customer satisfaction, with 95% of customers allegedly making second purchases. To prove their point, the young man is said to have helped 50 young women overcome their “difficult, empty times” during the MCO, when the services were available to purchase.
At the time the screenshot was taken, the service was sold 28 times and had an overall 5-star rating. One of the screenshots of the listing also shows feedback the young man received for the ‘One-day Boyfriend Experience’, with customers leaving behind 5-star reviews after their experience. One of them said that he was very easy to talk to, and another said, “If you like to chat with a humorous and cute guy, you need to purchase his services.”
Man offers ‘One-day boyfriend experience’ on Shopee
The various rounds of the MCO had most of us sitting at home, and only seeing our friends and family through free video call apps. This young man has come up with an interesting way to offer up conversations during the pandemic that we crave while we’re staying at home – by listing the ‘One-day Boyfriend Experience’ on Shopee.
