Tap Tap: New Cave-themed Bar In KL With Cocktails Served On Tap

Sometimes a decent glass of cocktail isn’t enough to end off a fun night out with friends. What makes a night truly memorable is finding a watering hole that’ll let us unwind in an aesthetically pleasing space with jaw-dropping interiors and unique cocktails whipped up by expert bartenders.

Over in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur, there’s a new cocktail bar called TAP TAP. This spot has cave-like interiors – think The Flintstones meets Kim Kardashian’s home. Complete with a range of quality cocktails served on tap, this bar is where you can enjoy drinks and take pictures for the ‘Gram.

TAP TAP takes the term “drinking den” seriously. This new KL bar has gorgeous cave-like interiors, with smooth corners and rounded walls. Their cocktails on tap are a highlight too.

Their drinks might be familiar to some – they’ve hosted pop-ups at multiple locations and renowned restaurants around KL before. This includes The Rabbit Hole in Bukit Bintang and YáN in Genting Highlands. But their new flagship space in Sri Hartamas is where patrons can sip on a range of drinks in a unique cave setting.

While the “cave” that houses the bar is entirely human-made, the softly contoured interior impresses all the same. The decor is tastefully kept to a minimum, with a muted colour scheme adopted throughout the establishment that’s reminiscent of a prehistoric cave painting.

The simple decor lets the extraordinary architecture stand out too – for starters, the walls boast a jagged surface and organic edges that mimic those of a cavern. The dim lights in the bar makes the cave-like space extra cosy.

The cocktail bar is just as innovative as the rest of the space. Here, bartenders whip up drinks, and the signature taps are displayed under a menu that lets patrons easily browse the bar’s drink options at a glance.

Above the bar area, on the ceiling, you can spot an enchanting visual projection of a starry galaxy – an apt enhancement to the cave experience at TAP TAP.

Cocktail connoisseurs may be used to bespoke concoctions. But TAP TAP serves their cocktails the way draft beers are served – on tap.

This simplifies how cocktails are served, without compromising on quality. You’ll also get your drinks quicker – simply place your order, and watch as a bartender fill a glass with your drink of choice from a tap.

There are over 15 cocktail taps that vary in terms of flavour profiles. On the Season 1 menu, there’s a list of wittily named drinks with diagrams that illustrate each cocktail’s flavour profile and alcohol percentage – this will be especially handy for novice drinkers.

The price of a cocktail ranges from RM26 to RM30. Some of their stand-out bubbly concoctions include For Chryst Sake, a chrysanthemum and elderflower-infused sake drink, and Kat Chai Fizz, a tangy vodka with hints of calamansi and salted plum.

For an intriguing medley of local and western flavours, Down The Rabbit Hole is a tequila-based cocktail that’ll give you that kick of smoked Asam Jawa, lime, and ginger. Those who fancy a bolder drink can go for the Black Suit – a smouldering bourbon drink with hints of fruity and refreshing flavours from the Maraschino cherries and mint.

If you’re looking forward to a fun night sans the booze, TAP TAP has a selection of mocktails such as Razorlight – a refreshing peppermint-berry drink – or healthy and fizzy kombucha.
