Zoo Negara offers free tickets for Children’s Day

Families with kiddos will want to plan a day out at our national zoo this November – specifically on 21st and 22nd November 2026. Zoo Negara is celebrating World Children’s Day again this year by offering free admission for children aged 3 to 12.

In a Facebook post shared on 5th November, Zoo Negara announced that it is letting kiddos meet their animals for free on the weekend of 21st and 22nd November for World Children’s Day, which officially falls on 20th November.

The zoo, which opened in 1963, houses over 300 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, so come prepared to spend the morning and afternoon exploring with the young’uns, who’ll get in for free. If you’ve yet to meet Malaysia’s new panda pair, Chen Xing and Xiao Yu, take this as the opportunity to do so.

How to get tickets?

Parents and guardians looking to claim free tickets for their children must meet a few conditions.

Tickets are available exclusively to Malaysian kids and must be redeemed as walk-in visitors, so it’s best to arrive early to skip the potential queues and maximise your time at the zoo. It goes without saying that children will have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

There’s no ticket redemption limit for World Children’s Day. Families will just need to bring each child’s original MyKid or birth certificate for verification at the ticket counter, and fork out RM55 for every adult MyKad holder.

November babies can also opt to redeem a free birthday ticket during this visit, so the trip will be free for both parent and kiddo – note that birthday tickets can be redeemed within 30 days from your birthday. Parents and guardians can purchase their tickets online, and redeem tickets for their kiddos at the door.

Zoo Negara’s regular admission prices for children outside of this celebration are typically RM28 for Malaysian children aged 3-12. Children under 3 years old can enjoy free admission year-round.

The upcoming cuti sekolah isn’t until December, so here’s a small win for families looking to plan outings with their kiddos on the weekends. It’s a chance to get off the screen and have fun outdoors with animals.
